  We had an Expedia booking, and the driver on the booking turned 25 on the day of pick up. The policy was that as long as the drivers were 25 we could book a midsize suv, which we had prepaid for however the attendant was determined that we couldn’t have a larger car, asking multiple members of staff, all of whom confirmed yes we could, she was still not happy with us having the car. In a moment of panic we couldn’t remember the credit pin for the deposit but straight away the attendent said no problem pay debit card which we did. We then go to pick up the car and because we’d paid a debit deposit we couldn’t have the mid sized suv we had booked and paid more for- for no apparent reason. This hadn’t been mentioned downstairs, it had been a no problem, we just need return flight details. The attendant upstairs was genuinely fantastic and so understanding and allowed us to leave a credit card deposit instead, however this had with no doubt being a deliberate ploy of the staff member downstairs to stop us getting a bigger car. We did eventually get a bigger car, a huge chevvy Tahoe which is by no means a midsize suv, a fuel guzzling monster but by that point we had been in the place an hour and the only other option was a sedan, we just wanted to get out of there. This was far from the car we booked and wanted. The car was returned 2nd December and 28 days the deposit still hadn’t been returned to the original debit card deposit we’d made on the 22nd of dec and a month later my bank investigated and refunded us. The stars are for the member of staff who helped us when collecting the keys upstairs who was great and the helpful staff when returning the car.
