  Valvoline Instant Oil Change, 8336 Mira Mesa Blvd. San Diego, CA 92126 Hose to my engine air filter housing disconnected and not reconnected when they tried to upsell me. Oil spills not cleaned up after service… Do better VIOC… It’s a shame I can’t post pictures…

  Veryyyy disappointing!!!!!! Me and my family will never take our cars there again.......I went to Valvoline regarding my car battery, which I had replaced there six months ago, as it is now dead. An employee named T.C. checked the service history and stated, "You changed the battery before, so you can't just keep coming back to change your battery. It's not our battery's problem; it's your car." I asked if he could run a diagnostic test to determine whether the issue was with the car or the battery. He refused, saying, "It doesn't matter, as I will not change your battery anyway. It's our policy not to replace a defective battery for the same customer more than once." I then requested to see that policy, asking if I could review the terms I had agreed to when I originally purchased the battery from them. Next, I asked to speak with the manager. He responded in a very aggressive tone, exclaiming, "I AM THE MANAGER!" He then became visibly angry, began cursing, and said, "I am not going to talk to this guy. Hey, Chris, go talk to him." Chris then came over and performed a test on the battery. The test result, as shown in the attached photo, indicated that the battery is dead and needs to be replaced. However, they still cited their "policy," stating that they cannot replace a defective battery for the same customer twice—even when their own test confirms the second battery is dead. This contradicts standard retail and manufacturer warranties. If a battery fails within its warranty period, it is typically covered, even if it's a replacement unit. A proper diagnostic test is required to determine the cause. If a car's alternator or other system killed the battery, the battery would still be replaced under its warranty, but you would be advised to fix the car's issue.

  Stopped in about a week ago after a much needed oil change and cabin filter replacement. Always such fast and helpful service at this location! I was especially thankful to the manager that day (I forget his name) but he went into my passenger side and managed to get the cabin air filter out and exchanged (a feat that Jiffy Lube guys had previously tried to do but couldn’t find and told me it didn’t exist in my model of car LOL). I was very impressed by his level of knowledge of my 2018 vehicle. And the rest of the team was super communicative. So much faster than Jiffy Lube—Valvoline always been worth the cost to me.

  I would not recommend this place, as you see in the photos. This is what I'm dealing with for taking my car here. Shop will not take accountability. And says I will need to take mechanic to get diagnostic. Basically cleaning there mess because they can't find were is the oil spillage that they did.
