- SSSarah Sung2 days ago1.0I went to this Speedee location today for an oil change and they tried to scam me out of $900. The technician was friendly enough and did the oil change promptly, then called me when it was done. But about 5 minutes later, someone who sounded like the manager called me back and told me my coolant tank was leaking and that it was very dangerous to drive around. He tried to scare me into agreeing to fix my coolant tank on the spot. They quoted me over $800 on the phone. I wasn’t ready to drop that much money and had my doubts, so I went to get a second opinion with an auto shop that I frequently go to. Found out that nothing was wrong with my car. It saddens me to experience such blatant scamming. The final quote was also over $900, with a coolant refill being over $120 alone when its like $20 at the store. At least I didn’t lose any money, but I did lose a whole morning of my time on a work day. The only positive thing I can say is that the technician who helped me was really kind and did his job well. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this location because of the dishonest sales tactics. I usually don’t leave reviews but felt it was important to share my experience from today.

After being less than happy with the new places, I decided to give Speedee a try again. This was my second time “back” and I can say I feel confident again in the honesty of the owners. I knew I wouldn’t need an oil or air filter no one tried to sell me those things which some establishments would have done. Also the person who checked me out, found a coupon for me which gave me $15 off. Too many car repair establishments see a woman as an opportunity to make some extra money so it’s good to feel you can trust one.
