  Is this really a National Car Rental location? It's hard to believe this level of service comes from a company that promotes itself as providing premium customer service. I've rented from many different companies over the years, and I'm an Executive member with National. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had—honestly, even worse than some budget rental companies. I don't expect employees to be overly friendly. Friendliness is subjective and varies by culture and location. However, I do expect staff to understand and follow the company's own published policies. As an Executive member, my Full-Size reservation is supposed to come with a guaranteed one-class upgrade. At this location, that benefit was simply ignored. This alone is something I would seriously consider reporting to the BBB. Another issue was that I arrived slightly before my scheduled pickup time. The staff told me they couldn't give me a car because my reserved vehicle wasn't available. I've rented from countless companies, and this is the first time I've ever been told that arriving a little early meant I couldn't receive my reservation. National even allows customers to modify their reservation shortly before pickup, so this made no sense. In the end, I paid for an upgrade. The employee knew I had arrived early but never adjusted my return time accordingly. As a result, my rental agreement incorrectly showed an extra day's charge. I had to spend time carefully reviewing the contract and asking for the billing error to be corrected myself. Overall, the most frustrating part of this experience was not a single mistake, but the fact that I had to verify and correct things that should have been handled properly by the staff. Customers shouldn't have to double-check every detail because the basics weren't done correctly. If I rent a car in Montreal again, I'll be choosing Avis or Hertz instead. After my experience, I looked through the Google reviews and noticed that several other Executive members had reported similar issues. That suggests this may not have been an isolated incident, but rather a recurring problem at this location.

  Worst experience in my national experience. I am a National Exclusive member, but I could not receive any benefits here.

  Kinda grumpy group, staff rolling in at 8:20 (when open at 8am), about 20 minutes wait and many people behind me. Very 1980s experience
