He was great. Very fast and walked us through the details. Manny and Joy were on it. Even after a miss communication on the needed device. Really appreciate them.

Manny is about the only reason that this company is getting 4 stars. He was the one who came to our home to do our installation. It was a rough start at first since we were scheduled for a 9 am install and we didn't hear anything from the installer until we reached out. Manny was unable to make it to our appointment that day, which was a bummer, but he was able to come out the following day. He communicated properly and was in and out in no time. He explained everything to my husband to the point that my husband was confident enough to do it on his own without asking me to pull up a video, haha. After reading some of the reviews, I am a little nervous about my husband going to the DMV for his drivers test and them saying he doesn't have the right certificate but hopefully that wont be an issue. Now, for the company (Intoxalock), it was all good at first. Everyone we spoke with was here in the United States, we had no issues with understanding what the other was saying and if I had a question but my husband was at work, they had no problems answering them. Now that he is a customer, all active customer calls get routed to India. The three people I talked to the other day were so incredibly rude, they couldn't understand what I was asking and I couldn't understand them. The one kept pushing for me to make a payment on the account, but we hadn't even had the device installed yet, and I just had a question about the charges that were showing on the account. The other two were super rude with me, refused to discuss anything with me until I could get my husband on the line, which envolved me calling him at work, asking him to step away from work, just to tell some lady on the other end of the line that I am ok to talk to. Like, why? And all three of them rushed me off the phone without really addressing my concerns, and even had the audacity to ask me to rate them high on the phone servey I was about to recieve. Lucky for them their system is garbage and the calls went to dead air about 1 minute into the survey... Otherwise, they would have all failed miserably.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner. However, the vehicle owner must provide consent for the installation. Intoxalock works with you and the owner to ensure compliance with state regulations and the successful setup of the device.
