Update: Enterprise reached out to me and we resolved the issue successfully! Changing from 1-4 stars based on excellent follow up.
Irented a vehicle from the Oxnard, CA location on March 21. The vehicle provided, a Chevy Traverse, was only half full of fuel at pickup. I incurred $63.00 to fill the tank prior to departing for Las Vegas on March 23. I picked up the vehicle early due to the location being closed on Sundays and my need to leave early Monday morning.
Approximately 150 miles into my trip, the check engine and traction control lights activated. I exchanged the vehicle in Victorville, CA and was given a Nissan Rogue, which was nearly empty and required $70.49 to refuel.
Roughly 100 miles later, the replacement vehicle displayed a malfunction warning, reduced power alert, and a “CVT Hot” message. This created a stressful and unsafe driving situation, forcing me to remain in the truck lane while I made my way to the Las Vegas Airport location. There, I was finally provided with a Chevy Equinox with a full tank, which performed reliably for the remainder of my trip.
Upon returning the vehicle on March 27, I clearly stated that I should not be charged for fuel (the tank was at approximately 3/4 full) due to the repeated issues and additional fuel expenses incurred. I was assured that no refueling charge would be applied. However, upon reviewing my receipt, I was charged $26.34 for refueling.
In addition, the discount provided does not adequately reflect the inconvenience, additional costs, and disruption caused by multiple vehicle failures. I paid significantly more out of pocket for fuel for vehicles that were not properly prepared at pickup than the compensation I received.
While I appreciate the professionalism and support provided by the Las Vegas Airport team, the overall experience fell well short of expectations—especially as a long-standing National/Enterprise Executive Member. I was informed by Oxnard team member that I may receive two free rental days in the future, but details remain unclear, and this does not sufficiently address the situation.
