  Be aware - if you do not have a card that says "credit" on it, you will not be able to rent a car. The rules of SIXT are clear and were shown to us. The personnel was very polite and professional, so no complaints there - it is just the rules that are weird. We offerd to pay a deposit instead, as our cards say "debit" on them (although our bank allows credit too). This offer was declined. We were recommended to try Enterprise car rental, which we did the day after, and rented there without any issues.

  Charged me for 2 extra days claiming my rental was not returned on time. It was difficult getting a hold of the company and information about where to contact wasn’t readily available. Thankfully able to get the charges reversed as I had taken a video of the after hours return. First and last time using this rental company. If you choose to use them and do an after hours return, make sure you have photo and video evidence.

  I usually have great service here, but my most recent visit fell short. I was given a car that smelled of cigarettes, and my concerns were dismissed. I was told that the smell was from cleaning chemicals at a service center, despite the fact that I’d just watched the staff wash the car in the basement minutes prior. I pushed for a swap, but the request was denied based on an explanation that didn't hold up. I’ll be back because this is hopefully just an outlier, but the lack of accountability this time was frustrating.

  We booked a 7 seater SUV for 5 days for the long weekend, paid in advance. We had a 5pm pickup only to learn that they were closed at 5 and we'd need to pickup the next day. Customer service was no help and unable to give more input on availability of the vehicle. Next day, before we can pick it up they cancel the booking without notice or alternative and tell us no car that size is available at any location. I wouldn't recommend SIXT unless you are seeking disappointment.

  We needed to rent a car for about a month as we just sold one of our cars and was in transition of buying a new one but needed a car to get to work in the mean time (we both work at different location so we need two cars). We met Thomas at Sixt downtown 200 Wellington location today. Thomas listened to our concerns, explained everything honestly and frankly recommended what was the best deal (which was better than the online deal) for the best duration and price. We have dealt with other shady rental cars but Thomas was honest and clear. I highly recommend Thomas at this location. I will update if anything goes side ways when we drop off the car. FYI we rented a Toyota Corolla for 27 days with full insurance.
