  Went for my regular oil change. Staff very friendly as always. I'm then informed the valve stem which snaps into the bottom of the oil filter retention cup is damaged. They put it back on “as is” and instructed me to get it replaced as soon as possible. The minute I drove off, red oil light and alarm came on. I drive back. They tell me it's normal since the valve stem is damaged and that again, THEY didn't break it. It was broken when we pulled it out they say Right… that's why the red light WASN'T on when I drove here.. Don't worry sir, it's safe to drive. Just get it replaced soon. I get home, call a mechanic who informs me he's gobsmacked they told me to drive it like that. Might have seriously damaged the engine. Take it to said mechanic. Seriously low engine oil pressure detected. Call Great Canadian Oil Change. Can't reach the manager but I'm speaking with the lad who had instructed me to drive off with an oil light on. He's defensive as hell as I'm trying to simply tell him to never do that again. But no…. He's done a million oil changes and this has never happened and there was nothing wrong with the instructions he gave me and he didn't break anything … Right.. I still can't reach the manager. Licensed mechanic tests the oil pressure. It's very low. Replaces damaged part. Oil pressure back up. Can't assure me no damage was done to engine. You'll have to wait and see he says.. $170 oil change $190 to get the broken parts replaced by a licensed mechanic. Car engine may be damaged… Buyer beware! At $170 per oil change, this SHOULD NOT happen!!!

  I arrived there and was told the coupon they sent me via email was no good due to something in the fine print. Not a good practice to trick people to come their location, it was disappointing.

  The team were excellent, very efficient, friendly, and treated me as a valued customer. They did my requested service, pointed out different filters that needed attention (with ZERO sales pressure)...also gave me options on choice and prices....I usually use Great Canadian Oil Changers in Ottawa, where I work, but this shop in Rockland has set the benchmark for what all GCOC stores should aspire to. Bravo!
