This was our third rental from this location in under a year, and the third time something went wrong.
We booked this trip partly to use a coupon from the last incident. The Audi we were given had a non-functioning AC, which we discovered on the second day when the weather got warm. We had to return to the branch and ask for a replacement. We called ahead, explained the situation, and specifically asked for a reliable vehicle.
The replacement was a Volvo that reeked of cigarette smoke. No one in my family smokes. After already losing time on one return trip, we had no realistic choice but to take it and deal with the smell for the rest of the rental.
*Worth noting: Sixt charges customers up to $400 for smoking in a vehicle. Apparently that standard does not apply to what they hand you.
Also check your invoices carefully. We were given the Audi with a fuel tank that was not full, left a note at pickup to document it, and were still charged a fueling fee when we came back to exchange the car. We caught it and had to ask for it to be removed. If we had not checked, we would have paid for their mistake.
Three visits, three problems. At this point it is not bad luck.

I am super disappointed with Sixt and Expedia both, and I am considering legal solutions now.
I went to pick up and there was no car available and I was suggested to talk with Expedia to request refund. I waited 5 days until I heard back from Expedia telling me the request was denied by Sixt "due to your reservation was non-refundable and them not able to make any exceptions to their policy". So I called Sixt but only was told I need to talk with Expedia because my non-refundable agreement was made with Expedia.
Since they both said I need to contact the other party but neither of them seemed to be helpful. They probably need to resolve this ambiguity internally rather than placing the burden of the loss on the customer.
Update: I got contacted by Expedia and was told that the denial reason from Sixt was "due to no-show". But honestly, can my Lyft receipt showing I arrived at your location, and my rental agreement with a nearby car rental company after I was turned away, somehow be fraud?
Update: Expedia notified me that they will process my refund.

Do not rent from Sixt at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Before leaving the parking area, I carefully inspected the vehicle and took timestamped photos of existing damage, including damage to the rear bumper bar. I also brought the damage to the attention of the staff member before driving away and was told that my photos would protect me.
I returned the vehicle only a few hours later. At drop-off, the staff inspected the car, told me everything was fine, and allowed me to leave for my international flight.
Hours later, I was suddenly accused of causing damage that was already present before I took the vehicle. Fortunately, I have photographic evidence clearly proving the damage existed before my rental began.
I originally left this company a positive review because the return process seemed smooth and professional, but after this experience I feel extremely disappointed and frustrated.
Be careful, document everything thoroughly, and take detailed photos and videos before leaving the rental lot.

CUSTOMER BEWARE: Absolutely horrible experience with this location. I booked and paid for a car online in advance, took an Uber all the way to the location expecting to pick it up, only to be told when I arrived that they “don’t have any cars available.” No apology, no solution, nothing. The staff were completely unhelpful and just told me to “call customer service” as if it wasn’t their problem.
To make things worse, communication was nearly impossible because the workers barely understood English. Nobody could explain what happened, offer an alternative, or even show basic customer service skills.
Wasted my time, wasted my Uber money, and left me stranded with no car despite having a confirmed booking and payment, they couldn’t give me a copy of the refund, and said we can’t that’s just the system… Completely disorganized and unprofessional. I would never rent from this place again and would strongly recommend others avoid it too.

I am extremely satisfied with the customer service I received at the counter. I had made my booking through Expedia, and while I was initially informed that a car would be available, it came as a surprise when I arrived and there was no vehicle reserved for me. Naturally, I felt frustrated.
However, Jazz quickly stepped in and completely turned the situation around. He is a great example of outstanding customer service. He patiently walked me through the available options, handled the situation calmly, and helped ease my frustration. Most importantly, he ensured I received a similar vehicle to what I had originally booked.
Jazz also followed up with me after 24 hours to check if everything was going well and whether I was facing any issues. This level of care is truly above and beyond.
Calming a frustrated customer is not an easy skill, but Jazz handled it exceptionally well.
I travel frequently for work, and this experience has made a strong impression on me. I will definitely be choosing SIXT for my future corporate travel needs.
SIXT is fortunate to have employees like Jazz, he is truly an asset to the company.
