Approximately three weeks later, my left rear wheel detached while I was driving on the highway, causing significant damage to my vehicle. My original invoice recommended returning for a wheel re-torque. I did not return for the re-torque. When I later spoke with one of the owners by phone, I asked whether the re-torque was mandatory, and he told me, "No, it is not mandatory to return for a re-torque." The owners declined to accept any responsibility for the incident. In my opinion, a wheel should not completely detach after a tire swap if the installation was performed correctly, regardless of whether a customer returns for a recommended re-torque. Based on my experience, I will not return to this location or any Great Canadian Oil Change for future services.
