Very Disappointing Repair Experience
I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the repairs done to my vehicle. After spending approximately $11,000 on the repair, I expected the vehicle to be properly repaired, inspected, and safely reassembled before it was returned to me.
Unfortunately, when I received the vehicle, I noticed multiple issues:
* Several parts were loose and moving while driving, creating noises and rattling sounds.
* The wheel molding was not properly attached and could be moved by hand.
* The side mirror was not securely attached, was moving, and had a noticeable gap.
* Some parts and panels were not properly aligned or secured.
* The gas door would not open properly, and I had to return the vehicle to have it fixed. This should have been checked before the vehicle was released.
* There were scratches that had not been repaired, as well as new scratches that I had not noticed or been made aware of before receiving the vehicle.
* Because some parts were not properly secured or aligned, I began hearing a whistling/wind noise while driving, particularly at highway speeds. This was a noise I had never noticed before the repair.
I am especially concerned that the vehicle was returned to me without what appears to be a proper final inspection. A vehicle should not be released to a customer when parts are loose, moving, improperly aligned, or creating unusual noises.
For the amount of money spent on this repair, I expected much better workmanship, attention to detail, and quality control. I hope the shop takes this feedback seriously and improves its inspection and repair process so other customers do not experience the same issues.
The shop should improve its quality-control and final inspection process. Customers should not have to identify loose, misaligned, damaged, or improperly installed parts after paying for a major repair.
I would personally not recommend this shop based on my experience.
Dealing with an accident is already stressful enough. Unfortunately, the stress continued after the repair because I had to deal with issues related to the workmanship, including parts that were loose, not properly aligned, or not securely attached.
Although the repair was covered through my insurance, I still pay for my insurance and expect the repair process to be handled professionally and the vehicle to be properly inspected before being returned to me.
Instead, I had to notice several issues myself and make additional trips back to the shop to have things corrected. This added even more stress to an already stressful situation.
My advice to anyone having their vehicle repaired after an accident: take photos and videos of your entire vehicle before handing it over to the shop—not just the area damaged in the accident. Document every panel, wheel, mirror, trim, scratch, and interior area. Having a record of the vehicle’s condition beforehand can be very important if you notice new damage or problems afterward.
Based on my experience, I would not choose this shop again.
I would have felt much more comfortable recommending the shop if there had been a thorough final inspection and quality-control check before returning my vehicle.
The shop should have made sure that all parts were properly installed, tightened, aligned, and functioning correctly. A proper test drive could also have identified the unusual noises and whistling sound before the vehicle was returned to me.
I also would have appreciated a detailed inspection of the vehicle for any scratches or other damage, along with better communication about what was completed and whether anything still needed attention.
Most importantly, I should not have had to discover these issues myself after receiving the vehicle. A careful final inspection and better attention to detail would have made a significant difference in my experience and confidence in recommending the shop.
At this point, I am very worried and anxious about the condition of my vehicle and whether everything will finally be corrected properly.
