  I rarely make posts like this, but I feel it's important to share my experience and hopefully help others avoid the same situation. If you're renting a vehicle through Budget/Avis, document absolutely everything. Take photos and videos of the vehicle from every angle at pickup and again at drop-off, including the interior, fuel level, mileage, and the date and time whenever possible. In early July (July 6–13), I rented a vehicle in Texas through an Expedia travel package. At pickup, I was charged a large damage deposit and assured it was only a temporary hold that would be released within 3–5 business days after returning the vehicle. Instead, it took nearly three weeks and approximately 15 hours of phone calls to finally have that hold released. During that time, I received conflicting information from multiple representatives about when the funds would be returned. Since then, my card has been charged multiple additional times for items including fuel, fuel-related fees, and, most recently, an excessive cleaning charge. These charges were processed without any prior notice, explanation, invoice, phone call, or email. The photos I was eventually provided to support the cleaning charge were not date- or time-stamped, and appeared to show markings that were not present when we returned the vehicle. Based on my experience, I am disputing these charges through my bank. At this point, I've had to dispute the transactions, replace my credit card, and spend countless hours trying to resolve issues that should never have happened. I'm sharing my personal experience as a reminder to others: protect yourself. Photograph and video every inch of your rental vehicle before leaving the lot and again when you return it. Keep all receipts and documentation. It could save you a great deal of time, stress, and money if questions arise later. I sincerely hope others have a better experience than I did, but I would strongly encourage anyone renting a vehicle to be extremely thorough in documenting its condition.

  The Bracebridge location is fantastic. I don't rent cars often but the few times I've really needed it the same Customer Service Rep (Carl) has helped me and he has done everything he could to make my visit quick, smooth, and as economical as possible. It was a pleasure dealing with you Carl!!
