  Absolutely unacceptable experience at Alamo Long Beach Airport Our experience with Alamo Car Rental at Long Beach Airport was one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever had and completely ruined the start of our family vacation. We arrived in California after an extremely exhausting day. We had flown over 5 hours from Mexico, arrived late due to an overcrowded LAX airport, and then discovered that our prepaid hotel reservation did not exist, leaving us and our two young daughters without a hotel. Already under enormous stress, we took a taxi to Long Beach Airport to pick up the rental car we had reserved in advance with Alamo. On the way there, we received an email from Alamo stating that our reservation had been canceled. I immediately called customer service, explained the entire situation, and was assured that the manager on site would be informed and would do everything possible to help us. When we arrived at the Alamo counter, we spoke to a female employee. She dismissed us immediately and said there was no reservation, without any willingness to listen or help. At that moment, my wife joined me at the counter (she had been outside with our daughters). When my wife politely asked why our reservation could not be found, the employee rudely told her to go away, saying she was “talking to me.” I explained that this was my wife and that she had every right to be part of the conversation. The employee remained hostile, refused to cooperate, and even refused to give us her name. We asked to speak to a manager. The manager was noticeably more polite and promised to look into the issue and help us. While waiting, my wife briefly returned to the counter to retrieve her jacket. At that point, the same employee started mocking my wife. My wife, already completely overwhelmed after this disastrous day, broke down and started crying. We sat down to wait for the manager so we could explain what had just happened. When the manager finally returned, he shocked us by saying that Alamo was refusing to rent us a car because my wife had allegedly made a racist comment toward the employee. This accusation is completely false. At no point did my wife say anything racist or offensive. This claim was used to justify denying us service and to shift blame away from the employee’s unacceptable behavior. This situation felt deeply unfair and devastating. What was already an extremely difficult day became the worst day of our entire vacation. No family should be treated this way, especially when they are exhausted, stranded, and simply asking for help. Alamo seriously needs to review the conduct of its staff at this location. Professionalism, respect, and basic human decency were completely absent. Until then, I strongly advise families to avoid this location.

  The check-in and check-out procedures were super smooth. The agent receiving us at return was super efficient and quick. He allowed us to move along to the airport without any hassle. At check-in the desk agent did not pressure us for more coverage or demand that we consider all of the options. Our truck was ready on time and in great condition.
