Today, my dad and I visited Rocket Car Wash in Loma Linda and I have to say it was such a surreal experience, just not in the way we expected. We don’t live in the area, we were just passing through and my dad really needed a car wash. So we went up to pay and the attendant kindly told us about a special: three months for $9.99. Now, that was a good deal, just not for us since we were only there once and didn’t want to commit to a contract. My dad politely asked for just a single wash. And that’s when things took a bizarre turn.
The attendant, instead of respecting that choice, kept pushing, raising his voice and becoming really rude. For over five minutes, my dad stood his ground but the attendant just refused to let us pay for a single wash. Eventually, he just handed my dad his card back and said, “Go ahead and exit.”
We were still processing the whole thing as we drove out and then something even stranger happened. As we were leaving, a staff member who was cleaning windshields came up to us. My dad asked if the manager was around and she said he was in the bathroom. But instead of being helpful or even empathetic, she just looked my dad in the eye and said, “That’s literally our job.” No understanding, no willingness to listen, just attitude.
It was such a disappointment because the car wash itself had real potential but this entire interaction was just off. I hope they take a moment to think about how they treat customers because it really left a sour taste for us.
