Originally I reviewed this company at 2/5 stars. When I initially had the device in my car, Intoxalock forgot to send the DL 920 form (the form DMV needs). Talking to customer service was HORRIBLE because I could not understand a word they were saying and they kept having to change representatives to finally understand what I wanted-and they kept hassling me to initially pay the first device payment without fixing what I was asking help for. They said they were going to overnight ship it, but it still did not arrive on time.
Once all of that was said and done, I downloaded the app. On the app I tried to sign the lease agreement but the link did not work. I called to explain to them the issue, but of course, I could not understand the customer service representatives AT ALL. It was like pulling teeth trying to explain that the link was not working.
It seemed like they were utilizing a third world country to filter out who needed to talk to someone in the US. Once I got a hold of a representative from the US, it was 100x easier to get help, and they did help me with exactly what I wanted both times. That was the saving grace to change my review. Social Media Specialist Daniel and Inside Sales Specialist Kelvin were the saving grace to convincing me to give them a 5 star review. as they were helpful and worked to get an agreement with me.

I called before my appointment and asked if there was any form I needed to take to the dmv for my IID installation to get my license. They said yea so you would think they would make sure it was in my car when it got picked up. Just spent 3 hours at the DMV for them to tell me the people at Lathrop smog should have given me the correct paper.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
