  I was in LA for a conference and intended to Uber/Lyft from the airport to my hotel. When going to schedule my rides found the cost to be between $300-400 round trip. So mid flight I looked up rental car costs and found Alamo to be priced fairly at a little over $200 for the 3-4 days I was in LA. Combined with parking at the hotel the cost was the same or slightly less than ride sharing and I got to control when and where I went when I was in between meetings or for breakfast or dinner on the 1-2 that the conference didn’t include. My rental car was a Nissan Rogue and was clean, filled with gas, and the customer service agents upon pick up and drop off were friendly, kind, and professional. Paired with the cost I will 100% use Alamo again if I’m ever back in LA.

  Honestly, pickup was a breeze. I’m glad I didn’t have to stand in the long line just to pickup the car. Drop off, on the other hand, was a little confusing. We followed the car ahead and I get that it was busy but there wasn’t anyone there to direct people to where they needed to go or what they needed to do. It wasn’t until after I got out of the car and looked for someone so I could ask. After that it went fairly smoothly. I think maybe if there was some signage (?) informing people to leave the keys in the car and remove all your belongings and wait in the side? Not too sure because then again, maybe they were short on employees? Overall, the car was clean, no funny smells and great on gas!

  Check your credit card for sneaky unauthorized charges!! (Up to weeks later even). Take a picture of the full gas tank when you return!! While our checkout, pick up, and actual car rental experience was good I can NOT recommend this company. We filled up at the gas station 2 blocks away and then returned the vehicle. While we were on the shuttle to the airport I saw a charge in my credit card for $126 Canadian for refuelling!!!! Crooks!! I hadn’t taken a picture of the full gas tank but luckily we saved the gas receipt. I then had to spend the next week in text chats and phone calls having them refund this unauthorized charge. A huge waste of my time for their scamming. They refunded charges but shorted me on what they owed back and didn’t refund the tax. So I had to continually call and follow up. And then after issuing refund they charged me again for the gas that they never even put in the car. $106 CAD this time. I think they are preying on people who do not check their credit card statements. Disgusting. While they seem to have refunded for these charges now I will keep an eye on my credit card statement as I do not trust this company at all. I am also out about $10-15 as a result of losing money on the currency exchange for these unauthorized charges. Do not recommend this company.

  I recently had an excellent experience with Alamo Rent A Car, and it will definitely be my only choice whenever I rent a car from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). First, getting to Alamo was very convenient thanks to the easy shuttle service from the airport. The transportation process was smooth and stress-free. Second, I truly appreciated their transparent pricing. There were no hidden fees and no pressure to purchase additional insurance. I previously had a terrible experience with another rental company that falsely claimed extra insurance was required by the government and forced us to buy it. In contrast, Alamo clearly stated that insurance is optional, which made us feel respected and comfortable. The car itself was in excellent condition — clean, well-maintained, and reliable throughout our trip. We booked through Costco, and the price was very competitive and reasonable, which made the value even better. The check-in and check-out processes were incredibly smooth and efficient, with no confusion or unnecessary delays. One unexpected highlight was when we purchased windshield washer fluid during our rental. The staff refunded the full cost to us without hesitation. We truly did not expect that level of customer care, and it left a very positive impression. Overall, Alamo Rent A Car exceeded our expectations in every way. Because of this outstanding experience, it will always be my first and only choice whenever I rent a car at LAX.

  I gotta give Malcolm that was driving Bus 19 on Feb 19 a special shout out. We had been flying all day and arrived around 8:30 PM to get our car rental. After getting checked in, I realized I had left my phone on the shuttle. The counter lady radioed dispatch with no response and it was made clear the only way I was getting my phone back was either wait for every shuttle to make their rounds or leave a different phone number with the lost and found. As all of our Airbnb info was on my phone I opted to wait for each shuttle. After 15-20 shuttles went by, I was approached by Malcom (a different shuttle deiver) who asked what was the issue. After explaining it to him, he sprung into action. He first went to double check the lost and found and radio all the drivers again. After no response, he then offered to go check every shuttle that was in the yard (about 50) to see if there driver had ended their shift. As he walked off to do that, he happened to notice a green case really close to the tire of a shuttle that had parked by the front door. It was my phone!! It had fell out of my pocket in my haste to get to the rental area. I am very grateful for Malcolm's help and he deserves 2 thumbs up and 5 stars for his service in helping when he didnt have too!!
