Always finding ways take pay you charge extra fees on top of the high payments. I you miss a test at the time giving and you do it a minute later because you're driving it gives you a penalty fee. You check on calibration dates and doe not give a date. You miss the date and you have to pay a fee. The exact lease amount that you pay bi-weekly that was given initially the day you signed varies on I don't know what. Poor customer service and most of the time it is hard to communicate with the operators. Too much of a hassle and fees.

I’ve had the equipment for less than a week and several times over and over when I blow it shows a missed blow. It is horrible while on the highway and wants me to give a random blow, this can cause an accident! By the time I am able to safely get off highway while at the same time blowing over and over the equipment shows missed blows until I am able to park to blow. I am only using this for a couple months and already thinking about returning it and my license.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?
Yes, in most cases, you can install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle you regularly drive, even if you’re not the registered owner.
