Very smart guy and super helpful. He answered all my questions and even sold me on a plug and play stereo for one of my cars .. I want to put this alpine dec into all my cars and trucks now. Also I set up subwoofer myself so it’s nice to go to a place where quality parts and wire are sold . Quality over quantity!!!!!

Overall, my experience was barely satisfactory. I mean, the device worked I guess but sometimes it seemed faulty, where I would blow (and blow hard) yet it would error out so I’d have to do it again. And having to do this while driving is very dangerous. My customer service experience was definitely unsatisfactory. I spoke with Mable yesterday (Sunday 8/17/25) who was by far the most helpful agent I spoke to within this last year but even then, she was trying to help decipher and correct something an agent incorrectly did last week. The most frustrating and borderline criminal (in my opinion) occurrence was when you charged me $143 in May for eating a salad that I guess had salad dressing that somehow triggered a Violation on the device when I went to use the air conditioning in my truck at lunch. I called and encountered the rudest and least empathetic customer service agent I have ever spoke to. A phone warrior. Basically was saying I was guilty and that I must’ve had a drink (at noon in the parking lot just outside my office… yeah right!) wouldn’t listen to me, and said if I didn’t have a dashboard cam, that there wasn’t anything they could do. EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE CONSIDERING SALAD DRESSING IS WHAT CAUSED IT! You should refund me the $143 but now I know overcharging future customers with erroneous fees is what you do. We all must be criminals who break the law, right? We aren’t just normal people who made one mistake, got a DUI, and eat a salad in their truck at lunch? Best of luck and thanks to Mable yesterday— she’s you’re only saving grace. Feel free to have someone in upper management call me to further discuss anything. Thanks.

Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?

The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
