  BUYER BE SO AWARE! I purchased a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe from Enterprise Car Sales in El Cajon in March 2019. September 27th, 2025, the engine completely failed due to a defect that had already been documented by Hyundai prior to my purchase as part of a service campaign related to engine issues. This defect was never disclosed to me at the time of sale. Had I been informed, I would have taken the vehicle in immediately and avoided a total engine failure. When the engine failed, it happened just minutes after I exited a very busy San Diego freeway. If the failure had occurred even three minutes earlier while I was still traveling at highway speeds, it could have resulted in a catastrophic accident causing serious injury or worse. This was not just an inconvenience, it was a genuine safety risk. When I contacted this Enterprise, the manager appeared more concerned about receiving a negative review than resolving the safety issue. At one point, he told me, “What do you want me to do, six years down the line?” After I expressed that I was appalled by the handling of the situation, he responded, “I don’t work in customer service, I work in car sales.” As someone who has worked in customer service for much of my life, I found that response especially concerning. Regardless of department title, customer safety and transparency should always come first. Enterprise corporate has also declined assistance, stating the issue was a “service campaign” rather than a recall. Regardless of terminology, this was a known engine defect that existed prior to my purchase and was never disclosed. Based on my experience, I strongly caution anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from this location to thoroughly research service campaigns, technical service bulletins, and known manufacturer defects before buying. Personally, I will not purchase from or rent through Enterprise again. Buyers deserve transparency, especially when it comes to safety-related engine issues. [I do not wish to further explain as this has led absolutely nowhere]
