My first time at this dealership and the sales person Vinny was amazing we communicated threw email locked in a price and when I arrived the price stayed the same no additional fees I would highly recommend this dealership and Vinny smoothest and fastest procces I've had at a dealer i think we talked about random stuff longer than the negotiation if you can even call it that 5star highly recommend Vinny and this dealership

They are absolutely the best! My fiancé and I went in to look at a car, the car we wanted we couldn't afford unfortunately and it was well over closing hours, but they stayed and helped us find one just in our price range! My fiancé has been wanted a new car for so long and they are just so helpful and so polite! I want to thank our salesman Christian Cooley and the Business woman Anjali Doel. They both are just the best.

It’s hard to describe the dishonesty and unprofessionalism that I have experienced with the business side of this dealership (rather than the service dept, which is fantastic, Tom in particular), but in the interests of helping others avoid buying a car here, I will give it a try. My wife and I bought a used Prologue last November. We told the salesperson (Jose) repeatedly that we weren’t interested in any of the warranties other than the Certified Pre-Owned. He kept trying to sell us on the “Platinum Protection” plan, and even brought in a manager to try and browbeat us into getting it, but eventually acquiesced and sent us over to the financing department so that we could close the deal. Anji cheerfully greeted us with a monthly payment that was almost $400 more than we were led to believe it would be ($300 vs. $700). I can only assume this was because she had tried to load us up with every unnecessary extended warranty known to man. After we protested by saying we didn’t want anything besides the CPO, she then said she had to go talk with the manager. About 15 minutes later, she came back and happily told us she had found a way to get the payment reduced by a couple hundred dollars. Still not good enough. “We don’t want anything besides CPO,” we repeated yet again. Back she went for another lengthy consult with the manager. At this point, we were starting to get very frustrated, but when you've made it this far, you are basically in a hostage situation if you want to buy the car. Despite continuing to refuse offers for more warranties, and with yet another reprieve to consult with the unseen manager, she finally in desperation said, “well, you’re going to need something in case the electrical chip goes out.” “That isn’t covered by CPO?” “No, it’s separate.” Turns out that’s false, and the electrical system actually is covered by the CPO, but as I said, honesty isn’t exactly a strong point of this dealership's finance reps. Feeling weary and tired of being hostages, and with Anji's repeated assurances that we would have 45 days to cancel any unwanted warranties, we reluctantly agreed to the deal. When we got home, we opened up the file containing all of our paperwork, which she had given to us on a USB. Shockingly, and unbeknownst to us, she had used the opportunity presented by our agreeing to an "electrical system warranty” to sign us up for a windshield warranty, nitrogen tires, paint/fabric/vinyl warranty, and exterior warranty. No matter that these weren’t discussed with us, just slipped in with the mountain of paperwork we had to sign. These additional warranties increased the purchase price of the car by roughly $7000. The kicker was that there was nothing about an “electrical system warranty" because, again, this was already included in the CPO. After repeated calls and e-mails to the dealership over the next 45 days (none of which were ever returned) and a fruitless referral to the BBB (where Shottenkirk currently enjoys an overly generous D- rating) we realized that we could contact the warranty provider (Ethos) directly and request cancellation. The catch was that Ethos would only issue a direct refund for one of the warranties, with Shottenkirk having to send a check to the loan provider (Ally) for the remainder. Well, you can probably guess how they’ve handled that. Three months later, we are still waiting for Shottenkirk to issue refunds to Ally, meaning that we still have several thousand dollars in cancelled warranties on our loan that are accumulating interest each day that Shottenkirk refuses to pay. I have a feeling that I will get a response to this message with an empty apology and a request to call to correct the misunderstanding, as Shottenkirk tends to do with all negative reviews. However, since all of our calls have been ignored previously, please save your bs response and just cut a check to Ally for the cancelled warranties so that we can move on with our lives. And please try to conduct your business with more honesty and less duplicity in the future.

Just in case anyone is planning to shop used at this dealership: they don't negotiate the price. They say that their price is "market value". Had a weird experience with the dealership while asking about a used Hyundai Elantra they had on their lot. The salesperson tried to tell me that the car was priced high because it was a fleet car, and said that these fleet cars are worth more than other cars (same year, same mileage) because they are well taken care of and are 'almost perfect'. Then, when I pushed back on his explanation, and tried to ask about why the car was priced like that, the salesman had no clear explanation and kept contradicting whatever he said. He was rude, had a short temper, and kept talking in a confrontational/shouty voice. I went into the dealership to confront this salesman, and he tried to dig in deeper into his sales pitch by claiming that Honda Shottenkirk does "$2500 of reconditioning on any pre-owned car". When I listed the services done on Carfax, worth barely 500 dollars, he switched his tone. I then inspected the car and found that it was actually not the 'almost perfect' car he had claimed. there were scuffs, scratches and other interior marks/damage inside the car. At this point, the salesman asked me in a loud and shouty voice if I was interested in the car. Then he passed me on to the next salesman. I thought I was being extra sensitive but turns out that others have had similar experiences with sales people. Just be careful to get everything in writing. Not a positive experience. The second salesman, Christian, was really helpful. 5 stars for him. He was able to answer questions well and was polite even though we ended up not making a deal.

If you are thinking about buying a vehicle from Shottenkirk Honda of Davis, please read this first. I bought a truck in January 2026 and the entire experience has been a mess from the beginning. “” The whole company needs training on customer service and vehicle service They never smogged the truck. False advertisement on the price and forced a $1,000 service they said was Mandy. Still no tags or registration 3 months later ! ”” When I got home and finally saw the truck in proper daylight, there were scratches all over it even though they told me it had some kind of protective coating. They also insisted a 1000 dollar coating and windshield package was mandatory, which I later learned was not true. Basic things were wrong from day one. The tires were not evenly filled, and the oil life was already at 40 percent. That alone made me question how thoroughly this vehicle was inspected before being sold. Then came the registration nightmare. February passed, March passed, and still no tags. After I complained, they finally picked up the truck, smogged it which should have been done before selling it, cleaned it, and handled the paperwork. But they returned it with the gas tank on empty because they used my fuel to drive it back and forth. It is now April 8 and I still do not have my tags. I am driving around hoping I do not get pulled over. What makes this worse is the complete lack of accountability. At no time did anyone from management in sales or the general manager reach out to apologize or even acknowledge the situation. They all knew what was happening because they coordinated picking up the truck, they knew I was calling repeatedly, and they knew I still did not have my tags. Yet no one bothered to contact me directly. Sales and service were not on the same page, and I was pressured into an extended warranty after saying multiple times that I did not want it. I take responsibility for signing, but the pressure was real. Too many red flags, too much confusion, and zero follow through from management. Based on my experience, I would not buy here again.
