  Overfilled my car on gas. Manager refused to take responsibility. Filed a damage claim and still have not heard back. Extremely frustrated and will not be recommending anyone to Valvoline. Hoping to hear back so someone can make this right.

  Staff is very courteous, well trained, and communicates what needs to be done along with options and pricing. Easy in and out service. I also notice the double and triple checking by various members of your team. Well done.

  Kevin at the Costa Mesa shop is the man. Very sincere and committed to the craft. Not overly sales driven but still informed me of necessary maintenance for my truck. The team wiped down my hood after the service and took a total of 8minutes for my oil change. Best experience I’ve had!

  I've been coming to this location for many years with several different cars have spent thousands of dollars with Valvoline at this particular location. The trouble started with the technician telling me I needed certain things that were on my Carfax that had been done already.....Big Ticket items.....he said it wasn't showing on his end. And that happened on two different Big Ticket services so that already caused me some concern. Then he said my cooling fluids was empty I said there's no way, it would have overheated, and he said no your Reservoir was empty and I know that was not true because I'm always checking my fluid levels. Then he said it just needed topping off so which is it it's empty or it needs topping off? Just seems like they were looking to do jobs that were not needed. He was arguing with me over everything I asked to speak to the manager and he just defended the technician. I paid and then while I was waiting I started going through my emails and saw that I had gotten an email from them for a 20% off they never offered that to me and when I came in I specifically said to the technician before they started that I was bummed I missed the offers they were just offering last week because of the rain so he knew I was looking for something they have always offered I've always had technicians at Valvoline offer to give me discounts even if they weren't running a special. But he said he couldn't honor my email because I should have told them from the start and I had already paid at that point. The whole service was a fiasco and I will never return. I never write bad reviews but I feel that it was very poor management. I have always had excellent service at this location with very kind and friendly service technicians not sure what happened today. They lost my trust.

  DO NOT GO HERE: 400 E.17th St. Costa Mesa-my Car is Totaled after their service: CSR: Roberto Manager: Isaac On 12/20/2025 just a few days ago, my vehicle was serviced at the Valvoline location on 17th Street in Costa Mesa. Following the service, the hood of my vehicle was not properly latched by the servicing employee, later identified as Roberto. As a direct result, while the vehicle was being driven, the hood unexpectedly flew open, causing significant damage to the hood and windshield and creating an extreme and foreseeable risk of serious bodily injury or death, not only to myself but to surrounding motorists. The following day, after a corporate claim had already been initiated, Roberto personally inspected the vehicle. In my presence, he again unlatched the hood and failed to secure it properly for a second time. This repeat negligent act occurred despite full awareness of the prior incident and the serious safety implications involved. Subsequently, during a recorded call with Valvoline’s Corporate Offices, this second failure to properly latch the hood was acknowledged and admitted. EVEN after this Valvoline/Roberto denied any accountability and will not take any steps towards assisting or even conversation about options to assign with the incident 100% caused by this business. After further research, it was further exposed: The Better Business Bureau (BBB) lists over 1,200 complaints against Valvoline Instant Oil Change locations in the past three years, many involving service or repair issues including vehicle damage after service. PLEASE DON’T GO HERE!
