  Do. Not. Rent. I filled up right outside of Victoria and they charged me 12.00 saying the fuel wasn’t topped off. How is this possible? I’ve never had this happen with a car rental company. Either they hate Americans or they are ripping everyone off. I will never rent from National again.

  Very disappointing experience. We returned the car and immediately reported a small windshield chip caused by a rock. It’s now been weeks, and they kept our $1,000 deductible while ignoring our emails. We finally spoke with the manager, who said they replaced the entire windshield and are keeping the full $1,000 over a 4mm chip. Holding $1,000 for a small chip and replacing the whole windshield feels completely unreasonable. Terrible communication and customer service. Think twice before renting from this company.

  I originally made this reservation through Expedia, but I called later to change a few things. Specifically, I asked for an SUV instead of an economy car, and I asked to extend the reservation by one day. The person I spoke with said that those changes had been made, and I received a confirmation email reflecting the changes. However, when we went to pick up the car, we were told that we had an economy car and we needed to drop it off the day before we left. The guy told me that these changes had been made online only a few days after I called to modify the original reservation. I did not make those changes. Also, I never received an email indicating that further changes had been made. He was able to modify the reservation so we could drop off the car on the correct date, but we still ended up with an economy car. Honestly, I think someone at National screwed up and either did not change the original reservation, or went back and made changes after I’d called to modify the reservation. Either way, it was annoying.
