I am disappointed with this branch. I don't want to blame Sixt rental in general, but this branch, especially the manager, show poor treatment toward customers. Yes, I speak English poorly, yes I understand poorly, but that doesn't mean my opinion shouldn't be heard, that doesn't mean I should be spoken to rudely… that's not proper service! I had 2 issues!
The first one was that some time after the rental, I noticed my insurance was expired while I was returning from Vancouver Island. Before the ferry, I discovered my insurance had expired, and at that moment I couldn't reach the branch or the service center. I subsequently didn't drive the car and had it towed to Richmond! I spent money, time, and dealt with inconvenience! The branch manager told me the next day, "oh, we forgot to update the insurance" — actually it was just that the paper inside the car wasn't updated, they forgot to update it. Well, I actually understood the issue and didn't try to make it a problem. But really, they should have acknowledged their mistake and compensated for the inconvenience, at least with kind words! That would have been enough. But no! There was unprofessional behavior in the manager's chain — the next day I received an invoice where they charged me about $500 for gasoline! You understand, $500! And this toward me, who had already incurred a certain financial loss because of their mistake!!! This is my kindness toward human error, and this is their response!!
I'll also note that under BC law, a rented car must be properly equipped with documentation, which in my case was missing. One more thing — I have a habit of video recording any rental car to avoid future issues! The contract states I took the car with a full tank, but in my video, the employee himself instructs me, saying the tank is filled to 4/8 and should be returned at the same level, yet they charged me $500! I regret that one employee's unprofessionalism affects the reputation of the whole company. I also found many other comments here with the same issue!

They are cheating regarding the fuel amount and charging five times the price of one liter of gasoline! I have used the service three times, and only once did I actually take the car with a full tank! The other times it was half-full! I tried to explain this to them, but they didn't understand! The other time I recorded a video, and now I already have proof that I took the car with a half-full tank, but the contract states full! This is dishonest behavior. I intend to file a complaint with my evidence!!!
This was my first trip to Vancouver, Canada, and my Sixt car rental was one of the best parts of the trip. From start to finish, the experience was smooth, quick, and hassle-free.
I want to give a special shout-out to Naresh at the Sixt counter. He made both the pickup and drop-off incredibly easy and efficient—no delays, no issues, no runaround. Beyond just handling the logistics, Naresh went out of his way to give me genuinely helpful advice as a first-time visitor to Vancouver. He suggested some great local spots to check out, including Fox and Oaks, which turned out to be a fantastic recommendation.
What stood out most was Naresh's confidence and professionalism. He clearly knows the Sixt process inside and out and made sure I felt taken care of at every step. It's always worth taking the time to recognize a great agent when one does their job well—and Naresh absolutely did.
If you're renting in Vancouver, I can't recommend this experience enough. Thanks, Naresh!
had a very disappointing experience with this SIXT rental.
I booked a Toyota RAV4 or similar through Booking.com, but when I arrived, I was given a different vehicle. The whole rental process was confusing and poorly managed from beginning to end.
There was no proper joint inspection with me when I picked up the vehicle. When I returned it, a staff member checked the vehicle and told me everything was fine, so I left believing the rental was completed without any issues.
Later, however, SIXT contacted me claiming there was damage to the windshield. I did not notice this damage during my rental, and nothing was mentioned when their staff inspected the vehicle at return. The vehicle information and return information also seemed inconsistent, which made the whole situation even more confusing.
Then, several months after the rental, I received another invoice for a traffic/parking violation plus an administrative fee. After so much time had passed, receiving additional charges and claims made the experience even more frustrating.
From pickup, vehicle assignment and return, to the later damage claim and additional invoice, the entire process felt extremely disorganized. I have spent far too much time dealing with problems months after a one-day rental.
This was one of my worst car rental experiences. I would not rent from this company again and cannot recommend it.
Reserved online several cars, reservation was free from troubles and quick. Site was slightly clunky, but easy enough to navigate.
Phoning the shuttle from the International Airport the attendant was short and not that informative or courteous.
Shuttle driver was aggressive and seemed to target every bump in the road, and wanted the ride to be more of a roller coaster adventure with the care they expressed in taking the curves as rapidly as possible tossing several passengers from side to side holding on so they were not tossed onto the floor.
The counter help was much better and adjusted the size of the rental to better accommodate our tallness, which was a nice touch.
Car was well within the range of a decent rental car.
Return was a breeze.
Would recommend, I will return as a customer next rental I need.
