Bought my car a little over a year ago from the dealership, went to get my oil change as per usual, and was hit with you need all new tires a break oil change for a total of $3000( said the last time it got done was in 2023) you would think that if your buying a car from a dealership they would service the vehicle before you spend over $30,000 on it…. What a joke

I had a great experience at the Nanaimo Honda dealership. Brandon was incredibly patient, and helpful throughout the entire process, and both he and Peter (finance team) took the time to answer all of my questions. As a first-time buyer of a newer vehicle, I really appreciated how comfortable and pleasant they made the overall experience.
I purchased a used vehicle from Honda Nanaimo at the end of April 2026. On July 25, I began experiencing engine issues and took the vehicle to Precision Mechanical Repairs for an inspection. During that inspection, several deficiencies were identified, and I was advised to return the vehicle to Honda to have those issues addressed.
Honda repaired an oil leak, but I never received a follow-up from the sales manager, Val, regarding reimbursement for the $318 diagnostic bill I had already paid to Precision.
Less than 24 hours after picking up the vehicle, it failed to start. I contacted Honda and returned the vehicle for a second inspection. After approximately 1.5 hours, I was told the issue was caused by a wire that had been left unplugged.
After taking possession of the vehicle again, it failed to start once more in Honda’s parking lot. The vehicle remained at the dealership for several days, after which I was told that it was starting normally for them. However, I was not provided with any documented testing or a confirmed diagnosis explaining the intermittent no-start condition.
After picking up the vehicle for a third time, the check engine light returned within 24 hours, accompanied by a P0641 code, rough idling, and another no-start event.
I asked the general manager, Derek, whether I could trade the vehicle for something comparable because I had completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the dealership’s ability to diagnose the problem. Despite two attempts to contact him, I never received a callback.
I was later contacted by Debbie, who asked whether I was satisfied with my experience. I explained that I was not and specifically mentioned that I had still not received a callback from Derek. Debbie said she would follow up and contact me again, but I never heard back.
At this point, I have a vehicle that still experiences intermittent no-start issues, multiple unsuccessful follow-ups, a $318 repair bill only three months after purchasing the vehicle, additional diagnostic expenses, disrupted work schedules, and delayed summer plans.
I have filed a complaint with the Vehicle Sales Authority and will be taking my vehicle elsewhere for future repairs.
My greatest concern is that, after three visits, I still do not have a documented diagnosis explaining why the vehicle repeatedly fails to start.
Update: Honda has taken the vehicle back and found the cause of the no-start issue.

We had the good fortune to meet Michael Lumley when we were looking for a new car. With his friendly, knowledgeable, and professional approach he paired us with a Honda that superbly suited our needs. After we purchased the vehicle, Mike spent the time to show us the many electronic features of the vehicle and synched our phone to the apple car play system - all with an offer to provide follow-up technical support should we need it. GREAT JOB Michael!
A shout out, and thank you, to Derek Yan (the Rider fan) and Peter Le Patezour who 'drove' the deal home. Your efforts & people skills were much appreciated.

We had a really great experience at Nanaimo Honda. When searching for vehicles from the Lower Mainland, Brandon went above and beyond and created a full personalized video of the car of interest. We travelled from the mainland, and Brandon offered to pick us up at the ferry, which was so convenient. The whole purchase was smooth and simple with great communication. Shiffon was incredibly helpful. We were able to do all the insurance in house as well, and our agent was super knowledgeable and personable. Overall, the entire process was smooth and easy. It was topped off with a bow and a picture of my son and his new car!!!
