- BHB H1 day ago1.0Paid $85 for a new AB drivers license. The lady taking the photo said both my ears needed to be showing and hair had to be tucked behind my ears. Just got my license in the mail and the picture is not only faded and massive, compared to previous years, but it’s just an awful photo in general. I googled if your ears needed to be showing and it says that Alberta's official requirements do not mandate that your ears be visible in the photograph. Their staff clearly don’t know the policy and are misinforming people. The wording on the new drivers license are also significantly smaller and harder to read. Glad I waited over an hour and paid $85 for a horrible photo, and a card I can barely read, that I’ll have for 5 years. Won’t be going to this location in future.

Their system is completely disorganized, they are understaffed, and nothing gets done in a timely manner. Being closed the previous day at the end of the month, when you would expect them to be prepared for increased customer volume, only made things worse. The wait was ridiculous, the process was chaotic, and there seemed to be no proper system in place to handle customers efficiently. If you’re looking for an insurance and registration office that values your time and actually has its operation together, I would seriously look elsewhere. Extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience.

We offer passport photo services at all of our centres across Alberta. To learn more about this, visit ama.ab.ca/personal/passport-photo. My driver's licence is due soon. Do I have to book and appointment to renew?
You do not have to book an appointment to renew your driver's licence. Just stop by one of our centres and someone from our registries team will assist you with the renewal.
Do you offer an international driver's licence here?
We sure do. The test costs $17.60, plus the cost of getting your Driver's License after you pass. Visit our website and search for 'Drivers Licence Testing' to find all the information, including what to bring with you. Good luck!
Is there a way to get a in-transit sticker for a vehicle to move?

Can I use the registry services if I am not a member?
At AMA, our registry services are member exclusive. However, you can visit our registry with someone who has an active AMA membership to use our services. Being a member does offer plenty of value.
