I had an excellent experience with the team at Fountain Tire. After my SUV was towed in from Kananaskis, Brad and his crew were incredibly fast and efficient. They proactively checked inventory to ensure a replacement tire would be available if mine couldn't be repaired. Even though the replacement was scheduled to arrive after their official closing time, they went above and beyond by having a staff member stay late to install it for me. I cannot thank Brad and his team enough for their dedication and outstanding service!

I have brought my vehicles here a few times and have had no issues with the oil and tire changes but twice now for two different vehicles they have told me they think based on the age and/or mileage they don’t think my vehicles are worth fixing and so either push for me not to go through with the work or in the most recent case, don’t even bother diagnosing the issue or giving me a quote for what it would even cost. I’ve worked as a tech at 4 different automotive shops and have also taken my vehicles to many other shops and have never experienced this before. Usually mechanics see tire/lube techs working on an older, high mileage vehicle and come over and do a quick once over to look for issues to bring more work into the shop but that seems to not be the way here. At least let me make the decision for myself whether or not I want to fix my own vehicle.
Tires wear out over time, and how long they last depends on things like road conditions, driving habits, inflation, and temperature. The best way to know when to replace them is to check them regularly.
Common ways to measure tread include the following.
- Tread wear bars: When these are flush with the tread, it’s time to replace.
- Coin test: If too much of the coin shows, your tread is low.
- Tread depth gauge: The most accurate way to measure.
If your tread is low or you see cracks, bulges, or notice vibration, come see us.
What are some signs my vehicle is out of alignment?
It doesn’t take much to throw your alignment off—potholes, curbs, or just everyday driving. Poor alignment can lead to faster tire wear and poor handling.
Common signs include:
- Vehicle pulls to one side
- Crooked steering wheel
- Uneven tire wear
- Loose or unstable steering
- Vibration in the steering wheel
If something feels off, we’re happy to take a look.
What’s included in the seasonal car care package?
Our seasonal car care package gets your vehicle ready for the weather ahead. It includes:
- Fresh engine oil and filter
- Chassis lubrication (as needed)
- Charging and starting system check
- Brake inspection
- Fluid top-ups
- Belt and hose inspection
- Battery test
- Tire and pressure check
- Heating/cooling system check
- Lights, wipers, and overall safety check
It’s a great way to make sure your vehicle is ready for the season.
What do the numbers on my tires mean?
The numbers on your tire’s sidewall tell you the size, load rating, and speed rating.
Example: 225/55R17 97H
- 225 – Tire width (mm)
- 55 – Height as a % of width
- R – Radial construction
- 17 – Wheel diameter (inches)
- 97 – Load rating (how much weight it can carry)
- H – Speed rating (maximum safe speed)
These numbers help us match you with the right tire.
When should I put my winter tires on?
A good rule of thumb: when you can see your breath — about 7°C and below. At that temperature, all-season tires start to harden, while winter tires stay flexible and grippy. Booking early helps you beat the rush.
