I’ve rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car Vancouver International Airport several times, and 100+ times globally with Enterprise overall. My experiences have almost always been smooth, efficient, and friendly — which is why this recent visit stood out.
On February 3, 2026, I arrived after a long flight, hoping for a quick pickup before driving back to Seattle. I had made a return reservation because the website wouldn’t allow me to book a one-way to the U.S. online. A few weeks prior, I had spoken with a branch manager at this location who confirmed that a one-way rental to Seattle could be arranged for a CAD 180 fee on the spot even if the online option for a one-way booking is available.
However, the employee at the counter was unfriendly from the start. After checking with a manager, he returned with a CAD 200 one-way fee. I asked whether there was a standard rate for these situations or if the pricing was discretionary. I also mentioned that I had noticed several U.S.-plated vehicles on the lot and would happily take one back across the border, thinking that might help with fleet positioning. The response throughout was consistently dismissive.
When I mentioned that I’ve rented with Enterprise over 100 times, the response I received was “yeah, so what.” That was surprising and not aligned with the service level I’ve come to expect.
Thankfully, when the branch manager stepped in, the tone immediately shifted back to the friendly, solution-oriented Enterprise experience I’m used to. He asked what vehicle I’d prefer, offered a Cadillac Escalade, and ultimately provided a complimentary upgrade while apologizing for the interaction. I appreciated him stepping in and resolving the situation professionally.
However, I later learned that the initial employee left a note in my reservation labeling me as a rude customer — despite the upgrade being offered by the manager, not requested by me. That was disappointing and unnecessary.
I’m grateful to the manager for correcting the situation, but I would encourage the branch to standardize pricing and processes for one-way rentals to the U.S., both for clarity and consistency. It would prevent confusion and ensure a smoother experience for customers, especially after long flights.
Overall, I remain loyal to Enterprise, but this particular interaction did not reflect the brand’s usual service standard.
