Jamie was my knight in shining armor. My car started to take a turn for the worst 40 min outside of Merritt (middle of nowhere). I rolled into town 8 min before they closed, crying, alone with a little one asleep in the backseat. Jamie took time to talk to me and give me feedback on my car, and gave me a realistic idea of what I might be looking at. I was traveling through town and still almost 2 hours from my destination. I got someone to come pick me up, and when I retired to the shop 30 min after they closed, they were still there and welcomed me in to solidify a plan to work on my car the next day. I left my car in Merritt and they called me daily with updates on parts and timelines, and had my car fixed as fast as humanly possibly with the situation at hand. I feel they were honest in their pricing and extremely communicative and kind to woman bordering stress hysteria! Thank you, Jamie!!

It’s Easter Monday and we pulled in at 4:00 with car troubles. Although they could not repair the situation, they willingly diagnosed things and gave us professional attention. Thanks guys!

On March 20th 2026, l was driving the Coke in torrential rain when my drivers windshield wiper broke. My truck was towed to Fountain Tire Merritt and met with 2 mechanics that went way beyond the call of duty - my replacement wiper arm was not available til Monday - so the two gentlemen MacGyvered my wiper with parts they Couriered to them and retro fitted so that l would be safe to get to my destination at no charge to me. Thank you so much fountain tire for keeping me safe.
Patricia.

I had an excellent experience at Fountain Tire in Merritt. A huge thank you to Megan for fitting me in for an emergency appointment over the phone. She was incredibly helpful, patient, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The staff were just as polite and professional, which made the whole experience stress-free. On top of that, their pricing was very reasonable. I truly appreciate the excellent service and would highly recommend this location.
Tires wear out over time, and how long they last depends on things like road conditions, driving habits, inflation, and temperature. The best way to know when to replace them is to check them regularly.
Common ways to measure tread include the following.
- Tread wear bars: When these are flush with the tread, it’s time to replace.
- Coin test: If too much of the coin shows, your tread is low.
- Tread depth gauge: The most accurate way to measure.
If your tread is low or you see cracks, bulges, or notice vibration, come see us.
What are some signs my vehicle is out of alignment?
It doesn’t take much to throw your alignment off—potholes, curbs, or just everyday driving. Poor alignment can lead to faster tire wear and poor handling.
Common signs include:
- Vehicle pulls to one side
- Crooked steering wheel
- Uneven tire wear
- Loose or unstable steering
- Vibration in the steering wheel
If something feels off, we’re happy to take a look.
What’s included in the seasonal car care package?
Our seasonal car care package gets your vehicle ready for the weather ahead. It includes:
- Fresh engine oil and filter
- Chassis lubrication (as needed)
- Charging and starting system check
- Brake inspection
- Fluid top-ups
- Belt and hose inspection
- Battery test
- Tire and pressure check
- Heating/cooling system check
- Lights, wipers, and overall safety check
It’s a great way to make sure your vehicle is ready for the season.
What do the numbers on my tires mean?
The numbers on your tire’s sidewall tell you the size, load rating, and speed rating.
Example: 225/55R17 97H
- 225 – Tire width (mm)
- 55 – Height as a % of width
- R – Radial construction
- 17 – Wheel diameter (inches)
- 97 – Load rating (how much weight it can carry)
- H – Speed rating (maximum safe speed)
These numbers help us match you with the right tire.
When should I put my winter tires on?
A good rule of thumb: when you can see your breath — about 7°C and below. At that temperature, all-season tires start to harden, while winter tires stay flexible and grippy. Booking early helps you beat the rush.
