I am not one to do this, but feel like I’m left no choice unfortunately…
I brought my car to Boyd Autobody in Maple Ridge for repairs after it was damaged by a dump truck. At first, my husband and I were very impressed with how thorough and professional the staff appeared to be. During drop-off, Lawrence the mechanic reviewed the pre-existing damage with us and had us sign the necessary paperwork. Everything seemed organized, and the team even installed a new battery we had supplied free of charge, which we appreciated.
However, our experience took a turn once the repairs were completed. When we arrived to pick up my car, the mechanic said very little, and the manager Nicole quickly had us sign the final paperwork since it was close to closing time. During drop off, Nicole had told us that when we pick up the car after service that they would do a complete walk around of the vehicle for a quality check - which never happened. The next morning, while driving to work, I noticed my passenger-side mirror was wobbling. When I stopped to check, the mirror completely came off - hanging only by the wire.
When I called Boyd to address the issue, they claimed the mirror damage had been noted during the initial inspection. This was not the case - no mention of the mirror was made at drop-off, and we would have addressed it immediately if it had been. To make matters worse, I was told by the Nicole, the general manager that they do not automatically provide copies of inspection reports unless requested, which seems unreasonable for customers trying to keep accurate records especially for a “credited” business.
Now, we’re left paying out of pocket for a new mirror that was fully intact when we dropped the car off. It’s frustrating that such an issue arose right after repairs, and even more disappointing that Boyd refused to take responsibility.
I’m sharing this review to caution others: always request copies of all inspection and service documents and take your own photos before signing anything. Unfortunately, our experience went from positive to very disappointing, and I won’t be returning for future services.
