If I can give this company negative stars….i would. My bf had to get an interlock system put in by them and their customer service rep is horrible. He spoke to a supervisor during multiple occasions in regards to the missed calibration that he had during the time when their system were down. It took them a month to get paperwork over to the DMV in Arizona which counted toward a violation for him. Another thing was due to the sensitivity of the device, whenever he put on hand sanitizer, it tripped out the system but he had a lock out for 5 minutes, but they sent report that he failed the test…make it make sense why the system would allow his car to start again AFTER 5 minutes if he was truly drinking? Another major issue is the supervisor that spoke to him on the phone twice, the first time she states what his violation were, however, the second time, she then added on another “supposedly” third violation. She states that on October 10th, he had another missed calibration and was extremely rude and adamant that it happened. Then, she proceeded to to change her mind after pulling up his full account and said, “ooops my bad, I apologize, it was only for the one in March when our system was down”. If this is a supervisor that’s handling issues like this and still managed to get the information wrong, you guys should not trust them or give them your business. I even have a recording of the conversation for my bf sake so he can send it to his lawyer. Go somewhere else.
Frequently Asked Questions About Intoxalock Ignition Interlock
How does an interlock device work?
An ignition interlock device (IID) is a small breathalyzer installed in your vehicle to prevent it from starting if alcohol is detected on your breath. Before driving, you'll blow into the device. If your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) is below the programmed limit, the car starts. Periodic retests occur during your trip to ensure continued compliance. To read more on Intoxalock, you can read our ignition interlock device guide.
What is the cost of an ignition interlock device?
The installation of an ignition interlock device, often called a car breathalyzer, typically costs between $70 and $150. This one-time fee is paid at the start of your lease and covers the service center's labor to install the device in your vehicle. Payment is made directly to the service center at the time of installation. For more on cost breakdowns, you can read our cost of ignition interlock device guide.
How do I use my interlock device?
Using an IID is simple. To start your vehicle, blow into the device as directed. If the device detects no alcohol, your car will start. You may be prompted for "rolling retests" while driving, where you’ll blow into the device again to confirm compliance. How-to videos are also available on the Intoxalock mobile app.

Installing an ignition interlock device typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on your vehicle type. Certified technicians ensure the device is properly installed and provide you with training on how to use it. Contact Intoxalock for an appointment and an accurate time estimate for your installation.
What happens if I fail a breath test on my ignition interlock device?
If you fail a breath test, your vehicle will not start, and the device will log the event. Depending on your state’s regulations, multiple failed tests may trigger additional penalties, such as lockouts or reporting to your monitoring authority. Intoxalock devices allow you to retest after a short wait if alcohol is no longer detected. Always follow your state’s guidelines to remain compliant.
Can I install an ignition interlock device in a vehicle I don’t own?

What should I do if my ignition interlock device locks me out?
