I brought my quad in for a tune-up and repairs and also discussed consigning it for sale. Nick was helpful at the beginning and explained how their consignment process worked. He initially quoted $300 for repairs, and I clearly told him that I needed to approve any additional costs before work continued. A few days later, Nick called and said another part was needed, adding $80. I approved that, assuming the total would be $380. Shortly after, he called to say the quad was ready and asked me to come in with paperwork for consignment. When I arrived, I was handed a bill for $690. When I questioned the amount, Nick couldn’t give a clear explanation and said there was more labor than expected. I asked why I wasn’t called for approval before the extra labor was done. He claimed he did call me and referenced the $80 conversation, then admitted that the $80 was only for the part and did not include labor. That should have been disclosed upfront. He apologized, but by that point the work was already done, so I paid the bill and moved forward. I completed all consignment paperwork. Nick asked me to sign over the title, which I declined because I wasn’t comfortable doing that. He said that was fine and that they would still post the quad. Days later, I drove by the shop and didn’t see my quad outside or listed anywhere. When I called Nick, he said they were waiting on the title. I reminded him of our previous conversation. He then spoke with the owner and told me the owner was okay moving forward without the title. The very next day, Nick called and said the owner decided they were no longer doing consignments and that I needed to pick up my quad. This made no sense, especially since we had just discussed moving forward and because my friend currently has a side-by-side there on consignment and was never contacted. That makes it hard to believe consignments were suddenly discontinued. If they didn’t want to sell my quad, I would have appreciated honesty instead of conflicting stories. Bottom line: poor communication, unexpected charges without approval, and inconsistent explanations. I’d be very cautious about bringing equipment here or trusting them with consignment.
