  I used to use National when I used to travel all the time in a previous career. I returned to National, with Emerald Club, and enjoyed the simplicity of walking out to a row of vehicles to choose from and was able to find a vehicle that I always wanted to drive and was really impressed. The cars were very clean, no standing in line, and in and out of the parking garage quickly. I was very impressed and will continue to use National for all my car rentals going forward.

  They had great customer service. Fernando, one of the managers, helped me switch to the credit card I wanted to use and also took a generous amount off the bill when I mentioned that the car wasn't as clean as I would have preferred when I first picked it up. In their defense, the car had just been returned to the Emerald Aisle and it had been raining. I really enjoy renting from National and using the Emerald Aisle. So cool to pick whatever car you want!

  We rented from Phoenix airport and returned at Denver. I always rent with national and love the pricing and ease of service with the emerald club. I was specifically looking for a 4 wheel drive full size SUV for this trip due to where we were going. There were no full size 4 wheel drive SUV's available. We managed to find a mid sized SUV. It was a Mitsubishi eclipse cross sport. It was not my favorite rental but it did get us everywhere where we needed to go. I will rent with national again, but I would love to see more 4 wheel drive full size SUV in the emerald aisles. Especially in the parts of the country that get snow and off-road terrain.

  I booked a family size car for 5 adults with luggage. A bit challenging... As an Emerald Club member you can go in and pick any of car in the parking lot. Sometimes, they would upgrade me for free. I hoped for the best. When we came to pick the car, there were no large size cars. But the National rep kept checking and calling until he found a large car and even gave us a free upgrade. This is what I call going above and beyond duty. The large car made a big difference. The travel experience was much more pleasant. Thank you National!

  Unfortunately you might not have many choices of you travel for work but my last 2 rentals from here have been horrible experiences. I used 2 free days for a short trip to Tucson (Dove Mountain area) well the drive there and back the engine was making an awful noise. I texted them to let them know and they said to just bring it back or switch it out at the airport in Tucson. Well the Tucson airport was 45 mins away in the opposite direction where as returning to PHX was an hour and a half. We weren't driving around while in Tucson. Returned the car and they said they would send a request to corporate to refund my free days since the car had mechanical problems. I then picked up a car from them last weekend for a short trip out to Vegas, I again used 2 free days. Well I got there at 9p and they had only 6 vehicles in their executive area and 3 were double cab trucks, 1 a car that said no key on it and 3 tiny SUVs (Trax/Kona) I complained and told they would bring more out which they never did then was told that who ever said that to me was wrong as they were closed and no knew cars would be coming out. The manager gave me keys to an equinox and said he wouldn't charge me an upgrade, keep in mind an equinox is covered with a free day as is BMW, Audi, Mercedes so not sure why he was telling me I wouldn't be charged. Well starting in kingman the car started giving a warning that the driving assist needed to be serviced, then once we hit henderson the check engine light came on. I had to go to the LAS airport to switch out the car and then when we returned that car to PHX I told them about what happened. They again said they would send a request to corporate to refund my free days due to mechanical issues. I have yet to hear from national or get any refund. Today I called and per national the PHX office never sent in any requests to them to have my free credits refunded due to mechanical issues. This is such poor customer service and their car quality is poor. How in 1 month did I get 2 cars with mechanical problems yet traveling for work almost every week I have never had an issue with cars from any other national branch.
