This will be a long one. I used 4 free days for part of this rental but didn’t choose the car correctly so I had to check in at the counter which sucks cause I’m executive elite. But the nice lady at the desk fixed my mistake and I went out to executive elite. The car pickup area is a HIKE from where you get dropped off. Honestly, this airport used to be a top 5 location for getting a car, gassing back up and dropping off without adding a ton of time to your morning. That is CLEARLY not the case anymore. Train over to the rental car center is very far away and it seems even further away because they are adding stops that the old system with the shuttle bus didn’t stop at. But back to the car, I am getting a new car in October and am considering the Hyundai Tucson. So I grabbed one of those for my 10 days. It hooked up to my Apple Car play quickly and had the correct outlet for my phone charger. But honestly, after driving this for 10 days definitely will not be purchasing one. The safety feature of slamming on the breaks when the car deems I’m not slowing down fast enough was not a welcome thing. 3 times this car slammed on the brakes based off the car in front of me. I use a drive safe and safe app in my own car. I don’t need this car to ascertain when I should brake. The new train system also means you can’t now gas the car back up anywhere closer then 3 miles to the rental drop off. I’ve never seen an airport voluntarily make itself one of the worst in pickup and drop off almost overnight like phoenix has done. It added almost 30 minutes to my drop off to find the nearest gas station, fill up and drop back off. I even said something to my attendant when I dropped off the car. He was going to give me 40 bucks off my rental. I told him don’t sweat that, it’s not nationals fault the airport decided to ruin all travel in for visitors. So long story short, national did a nice job but the entire airport/car rental experience at this airport has become so awful I don’t know if I would come back here voluntarily again. I’m driving to Scottsdale from Vegas at the end of September so thank god I won’t have to go to the airport. But I will be using National for the rental.

To leave the lot at the Sky Harbor location took 20 minutes or longer. They didn't staff enough people for the gates and seemed to be having some technical difficulties. On the day to return the vehicle I called customer service to find out if there would be any additional charges to return the vehicle to another location. I was told over the phone that if I returned it to the Mesa Gateway location there would not be any additional charges. Fast forward to two days later I receive an email stating that I would indeed be charged an additional amount of money. This is a training issue on National/Enterprise. I could have returned the vehicle to the Sky Harbor location if they had informed me of additional charges. On top of that, National/Enterprise referred to the customer contract section that describes the additional charges. (This is why I called customer service prior to switching drop off locations and was told there wouldn't be a charge) Furthermore National/Enterprise then referred to a location when making a future RSVP I can choose a different drop off location to see the fees. Hey National/Enterprise, this option is not available on the APP!!!!! The reason for two stars is the vehicle was in great shape and I enjoyed driving it. This experience however has made me consider other options when selecting vehicle agencies for business and pleasure.

I have rented vehicles for approximately 40 days during different business trips, and this is my second time renting at this Phoenix location. My first experience here required some additional verification since I did not yet have a return flight booked, but it was handled professionally and resolved within a few minutes. Unfortunately, my experience today was much more difficult. The representative initially informed me that they could not rent the vehicle due to concerns related to being close to the border and issues with stolen cars. While I understand that the company must follow policies to prevent vehicle theft, the way this was communicated made me feel uncomfortable and unfairly judged, especially considering that I have a solid rental history, a confirmed reservation, and provided my passport as identification. After speaking with the manager, he reviewed my rental record and approved the rental. However, the process took approximately 50 minutes to resolve. I fully respect the need for security policies, but the situation could have been handled in a more professional and customer-focused manner. Clear communication and reviewing my rental history from the beginning would have avoided unnecessary delays and discomfort. This is the only rental location where I have experienced a situation like this.

Reserved a "Nissan Maxima or equivalent". When we got there, we were told to just go out an pick our car. We walked around for ten minutes looking for any Nissan Maxima. There were none. We asked to different workers for help, and they both just said we needed to look around. We found dozens of Nissan Sentras, two Nissan Altimas, but we had paid for the larger car in order to have trunk room for two sets of golf clubs, so those wouldn't work. Finally found a Toyota Camry that would barely hold the clubs and settled for that. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to group the cars that are in the different size categories if you don't want to direct your customers to the type of car they paid for. Only giving three stars because the Camry was nice and we didn't have any other issues.

I usually have a good experience. This car I got drove me insane it wouldn’t stay connected to my phone for Apple CarPlay. Everytime I got in the car I had to reset the setting. It was extremely frustrating and very inconvenient. Aside from that when I returned the rental the girl that was checking me in was very rude from the start when she was directing me to pull forward into the lane she had an attitude and was getting frustrated because she wanted me further up however I did not want to get that close to people that were literally walking in front of my car. When I was getting out she stood that and was annoyed because I wasn’t moving fast enough. (I had just played a bunch of softball and was extremely sore and struggled to move) she did not asking how my experience was it was if she did not care and I know this is not how national (all three brands) work. The said my total and it was definitely more than what I was originally supposed to pay and when I asked she she said “well ya you didn’t fill up the tank”
