  Initially the experience was not great. I got in very late (1am) and am thankful they stayed open late but when I arrived they had NO CARS. I had reserved an SUV but they only had one truck or 2 minivans to choose from. The only reason why wouldn’t rent from Alamo again because why are you renting reserved cars out from under people? Anyway, I chose the truck. The next day after being in the sun it smelled like cigarette smoke. I emailed and promptly got a response from manager Corey to switch out cars. When I returned I was able to get into an SUV, BUT it was covered in glitter and hair. Mind you, the night before there was not a single car left to rent and now the lots full. So the cleaning process really needs to be stepped up. However I still gave the 4 because Corey, Scott, and the other associates I met with at the counter were very kind and apologetic about the truck. I really had great customer service. So I very much appreciate that.

  Daniel at the Alamo desk at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport made our family's trip start on the best possible note. We flew in with two young kids and I realized I'd actually booked our reservation at the wrong airport. Instead of making it a hassle, Daniel handled the whole thing with zero friction and got us rebooked and into our SUV in no time. He was genuinely friendly the entire time, not just going through the motions. When you're arriving tired with a 5 and 7 year old, that kind of service makes a real difference. Five stars!

  Made our reservation through Expedia only to find out when we arrived that because we live local they will not take a debit card. This is one of the stupidest policies I've ever encountered. How dose me living out of town make my Debit card payment any more valid? Absolute nonsense and I'm also now screwed out of the $42 Expedia took from my unacceptable debit card. I suppose that's because I don't live wherever Expedia does business.

  Terrible experience. They clearly overbooked and had no plan. After waiting 40 min to check in the counter said you are all checked in and sent us to see someone else who could tell us when are car was going to be available. They said 30-45 min additional minutes. After about an hour the manager said he didn't know how long but could be another 45 min to an hour. So after waiting nearly two hours and no car in sight, we left. After a long travel day with two little kids I would have appreciated them saying we overbooked and have no idea. Instead the manager said well we have cars they just aren't available yet. We cancelled and made alternate plans.

  Update to my review: I’ve been trying repeatedly to contact Alamo as you requested, and I still haven’t received a single response. This lack of follow-through is unacceptable. I expect someone to reach out immediately. This is the letter I sent to Alamo, and there has still been no response! This is outrageous. I reserved a car through Allegiant Air along with my airline ticket. Reservation #159342805, and I paid upfront $440.88 just for the car. I arrived at Mesa Gateway Airport on 2/26/2026 and was told my rental agreement was “incorrect” and was required to pay an additional $615.50 on top of what I had already paid. It was 11:00 pm, and left without any option but to take the rental. The agent told me that there was nothing she could do. The reservation number with Alamo was 86715592. This is completely unacceptable and entirely Alamo’s responsibility after confirming with other agencies that the reservation with Alligent was correct. I am demanding an immediate refund of the overcharge. I did not authorize this, and your staff’s handling of the situation is unacceptable. Allegiant has confirmed that the issue must be resolved directly with Alamo. If I do not receive a full refund within 5 business days, I will escalate this complaint immediately to: • My credit card issuer for a chargeback • Consumer protection agencies • Public reviews and social media channels detailing this experience Alamo’s handling of this situation is unacceptable and must be corrected now. After your comment I have tried to call several times to discuss this issue. I have been put on hold but nothing happens. Seems your reply was only to save face!
