  In at 3:46 pm today. Could tell Willa wasn't working - the women's bathroom was pretty messy & paper towels were out in both dispensers. If she was on, that wouldn't happen!

  I used to think Holbrook was just a place where trees go to turn into rocks and time goes to stand still, but then I found this Maverik. I first heard about Maverik from watching Robby Layton Nation on YouTube. I knew the man had taste when it came to heavy equipment and desert adventures, but I didn't realize we were spiritually connected until I got home to Lakeville. I was watching one of his videos, looked down at my refillable cup, looked at his on the screen, and realized I had officially been 'inducted' into the Layton Nation at the Holbrook pumps. Let’s be honest: this Maverik is the crowning achievement of modern Holbrook. In a town famous for 'Bucket of Blood Street' and a jail cell that's more popular than the local hotels, this store is a literal beacon of civilization. It’s the perfect tactical pivot point—whether you’re launching onto the I-40 or descending into the Valley, it’s the only place for miles where the coffee is actually hot and the fountain soda selection is massive enough to satisfy even the most irrational thirst. The BonFire food is legit (the burritos are the fuel you actually need for the desert), and the bathrooms are award-winningly clean—which is a miracle in a town that was once deemed 'too tough for women and churches.' If you’re driving through Arizona and you don't stop here to grab a drink and a snack, did you even really go on a road trip? It’s the best thing in Holbrook by a landslide—mostly because the competition has been petrified since 1886, but Maverik clears the bar anyway.
