I rarely leave reviews, but after this experience, I feel obligated to warn others about how unprofessional and irresponsible this business has been.
I went to Mavis Tire & Repair in Troy, Alabama to replace two tires on my 2025 Kia K4. After inspecting my vehicle, they told me I actually needed four new tires instead of two. My fiancé and I agreed, especially because we were clearly told BEFORE any work was done that the total would include an alignment and balancing.
We were quoted a total of $820+ and decided to move forward. We waited while the work was completed, and once the car was finished, we paid in full. Only AFTER we paid did they inform us that they could not perform the alignment because their machine wasn’t up to date and my car was “too new.”
At that point, we were told a technician was coming THAT SAME DAY to update their system, and that we could come back within the next couple of days to get the alignment done. Trusting what we were told, we left.
The next day, I called to follow up. I spoke with the manager, who told me the technician had not come yet but would be there by the end of the week. She took my name and number and promised to call me when the technician arrived.
A full week went by — no call.
The following Monday (now over a week since my original visit), I called again. I was once again told the technician had not come yet but would be coming “that day” or by the end of the week. We were told to just keep waiting.
A few days later, on Thursday, I happened to be at Publix right in front of Mavis, so I stopped by in person. The associate told me — again — that the technician still had not come. When I asked for an ETA, I was told they were “just waiting” because the technician has another job and is busy. At this point, it had been nearly two weeks since we paid over $800, including for a service we still had not received.
Another week passed — now approaching THREE WEEKS — and still no alignment, no phone call, and no update.
At this point, I called again and asked for the corporate number. Instead of giving it to me, they tried to keep me from escalating the issue by saying they could help. I explained the entire situation again, and they still refused to provide the corporate contact, telling me to “just give it more time.”
After calling AGAIN a few days later, someone finally gave me a “corporate number.” However, when I called it, it simply rerouted me right back to the same Mavis location in Troy. It was NOT a corporate number.
At this point, I was beyond frustrated. It had been almost a month, and no one had followed up, no technician had come, and no alignment had been done — despite it being included in the price we already paid.
I ended up going to Kia myself and paying additional money out of pocket to get the alignment done properly. Only then did my car start driving normally again.
To this day, NO ONE from Mavis has contacted me. No apology, no update, no compensation for the time, money, and inconvenience they caused — even after we were told a district manager would reach out.
This entire situation feels extremely underhanded. It honestly seems like they knew from the beginning that they couldn’t perform the alignment but went ahead with the sale anyway to get our money, only to tell us after we had already paid.
I am not someone who complains often. I try to be patient and understanding, but this has been one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I’ve had.
I strongly recommend avoiding Mavis Tire & Repair in Troy, Alabama. This level of poor communication, lack of accountability, and dishonesty is completely unacceptable.
