If you are Muslim or of Arab descent (or look like you do), do not go to this Mazda dealership. I stopped by this center to ask for some information, and my mom, who wears a headscarf, came along with me. When we entered the dealership, Mr. Mansel was sitting at the front desk and was my first point of contact. I asked if he had any CX-30s available, to which he agreed to show me. As we walked outside to look at his inventory, my mom attempted to make some lighthearted small talk about how having children can be very expensive and subsequently asked if he had any children of his own. Mr. Mansel took this opportunity to mention how his son is serving in Israel and defending it against terrorist airstrikes. Not sure how a lighthearted question about kids was interpreted as discussing foreign issues, yet Mr. Mansel and the Mazda center he represents believed it was an appropriate comment to make in a business setting. I expected a professional, neutral interaction focused on the vehicle, but instead the conversation took an uncomfortable and unnecessary turn. We ended up leaving shortly after. I know this is Alabama, and the Judeo-Protestant identity runs deep in this region; however, I would imagine some degree of professional conduct would be maintained at a business like this that has an international presence, not just in Pelham, Alabama. I know that many Saudi and Gulf Arab students tend to look for Mazda dealerships; please avoid this one in particular, or at the very least, Mr. Mansel and his questionable rhetoric.

We found just what we were looking for in a used vehicle for my daughter. We are from out of town and pretty much handled the purchase over the phone. Med Center Mazda was easy and seamless to work with.

I visited your dealership yesterday for a tire rotation, tire balancing, and an oil change. After getting home and inspecting my vehicle, I noticed two issues. The tire rotation was not done correctly. Instead of rotating the tires front to back as recommended in the owner’s manual, they were only switched side-to-side. The vehicle is equipped with Bridgestone Potenza S001 performance tires, which require a proper front-to-rear rotation pattern in accordance with manufacturer and vehicle guidelines. Side-to-side rotation is not appropriate for this type of tire and may negatively affect performance and wear. In addition, I found new scratches on my wheels that were not there before my visit and It only has 12K on it, so it’s practically new. I live about 1.5 hours away, so returning to the dealership to fix these issues is very inconvenient for me and I m very disappointed with this service, and it makes me question the overall quality and reliability of your work.

We just bought 2 CX-50s from Med Center Mazda. I’ve been in and around the car business most of my life. We were treated like family by everyone involved. From our salesman Jarron Burdette to all the people who handled the paperwork etc. there was never an uncomfortable moment. We highly recommend Med Center Mazda if you’re looking for honest, professional people and an exemplary product.

TL;DR - I do not recommend the service department anymore. First, Joey C is incredible and I still recommend him. However, the service department has driven off a cliff. I trusted DJ V in the service dept for years. Unfortunately he is not at the service desk anymore. Bob B was my assigned service advisor, and he provided the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. He took pictures from every angle around the vehicle while I waited at the service desk, which was no problem. I thought it was cool that there was a screen giving real time updates, so I watched that while I waited. He got to his desk and seemed argumentative from the start. I said I was there for the prepaid maintenance plan that I bought with the vehicle, as I had three services remaining. (I later found out that “Corporate” canceled these by implementing an expiration date after the sale.) Instead of explaining that situation— preferably in a calm respectful manner— Bob B raised his voice and talked down to me in front of other customers. His explanation was that I’m at a bank and trying to cash checks or withdraw cash from an empty account, which is condescending and doesn’t really make any sense. If anything it’d be like a bank decided my account expired and I no longer had the $300 in my account. I was so surprised by his patronizing tone that I had to confirm he was talking to me that way. I asked for my keys and left the service desk. Joey C went out of his way to find out what happened with the maintenance plan. There’s going above and beyond, and then there’s Joey who is on a whole other level. Had Bob B explained the situation the way Joey did, I would have appreciated his honesty and gone ahead with the service appointment, paying out of pocket. I would have continued to go to Med Center for all service and maintenance like I originally planned, never even checking to see if I was getting the best deal. I’ll pay more for quality, dependable service. I won’t pay a dime to be shouted down.
