- DLdavid lJan 26, 20261.0Went in tonight bc I was in a bind and needed a battery for my work truck. Guy at the counter playing on his phone said he wouldn’t bc it was too cold outside. Hey buddy. Maybe not wear shorts to work when it’s cold outside. Went down the street to Oreilys and the young man said “sure, that won’t be a problem” I bought the expensive battery and gave him a fat tip for installing it in the cold. Won’t be going back to that advanced location again.
- SCStacie CantrellJan 25, 20265.0My driver side wheel bearing needed to be replaced. I ordered my part from Advance. Mind you this is two days before the ice storm everyone is preparing for. The mechanic calls me as my car is disassembled and tells me this is the wrong wheel bearing. I go back to advance to get the correct part. I get it back to the mechanic. This is also the incorrect part.. Day of ice storm I rush into Advance Auto in Pelham on Pelham Parkway, Zach and JT took an impossible situation and turned it into a pleasant experience. These guys were so on top of things, knew how to handle my situation and got me the correct part, returned the other. I cannot say enough about these guys. professional, great customer service, and very knowledgeable. I would give these two guys 10 stars if I could

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
