- BDBrent DayMar 19, 20261.0I took my battery in to have it tested before buying a new one. I went there intentionally to purchase a Diehard battery for my 1967 Mercury Cougar. When I requested that they test the battery before purchasing a new one, I was informed that they could only test Diehard batteries. Mine was not a Diehard. After confirming this, I told them that if they would not test my battery I would go across the street to Autozone to have it tested and, if it is bad, I would buy one there. They again confirmed that they would not test my battery. The employee at Autozone was very helpful.

Signs of a bad car battery can range from the need for frequent jump starts, slow to start, cranks or clicks but won't start, dash lights work but the vehicle won't start, etc.

HOW DO BRAKES WORK?

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
