In October 2025 we purchased a used Kia minivan from Shottenkirk Honda of Huntsville. Since the purchase we have had a couple of issues arise and have received poor customer service with both issues. 1. The day we took the vehicle home we realized that the rear seat entertainment systems were missing leaving the back of the driver and passenger seats with empty brackets. The vehicle was advertised as including this feature. We originally contacted our salesman who escalated the issue to the sales manager. Four days later (10/28/25) the sales manager reached out stating he would find a solution. He stated he would reach out to the prior owner of the vehicle to see if they could return the screens and if that was not possible they would purchase replacement screens from Kia to install. Since then we have repeatedly followed up via text and voicemail to get an update and have not received a call back. The exposed metal seat brackets are a safety risk and would cause injury to rear seat passengers in the event of a collision. Upon speaking to the parts department Monday 4/20/26, it was communicated that the replacement screens have not been ordered and there is so record of this issue in our customer file. 2. The second issue we have encountered is upon purchasing new tires for the vehicle at Costco, the Costco tire service members were unable to find the lug nut lock key in any of the vehicles compartments, making them unable to remove the old tires from the vehicle. They asked that we call the dealership to inquire where the key might be or getting a replacement if it could not be found. On Monday 4/20/26, I spoke to two people in the service and parts department and they both said that we should bring our Kia minivan to the service center and they would be able to use their universal key to remove the lug nuts and give us a new set so that we could take our vehicle back to Costco and get the new tires installed. The gentleman in the parts department looked up the size of lug nuts for my particular year make and model to ensure they had lug nuts on hand, so that they could take care of this for me quickly. On Wednesday 4/22/26 I took the vehicle to the service center and upon arriving I was turned away and told that their lug nut key only works on Honda vehicles and they would not even attempt to get the lug nuts off. I was then told to go to the Kia dealership and ask them to remove the lug nuts instead. It is frustrating to have wasted a trip because I was told incorrect information by two different service members. As a mother of 3 children, ages 3 and under, I had to arrange childcare and plan around my infant’s feeding schedule to make this trip, only to be turned away. It is also concerning that we were sold a service plan from the dealership for this vehicle and it turns out they are not actually equipped to perform basic maintenance on the vehicle (tire rotation). I also question whether this vehicle received basic maintenance from their service department upon purchasing it from the original owner. If they had performed an oil change and tire rotation prior to listing the vehicle for sale, the missing lock key would have been discovered before we purchased the vehicle. The oil change sensor on the vehicle was reset at the same mileage as when we purchased the vehicle so we were under the impression it had received basic maintenance prior to us taking possession, but now we are questioning whether that is true. I am hopeful that these issues will be resolved soon in a satisfactory way; however, until that takes place I would not recommend using Shottenkirk Honda to purchase a used vehicle.

Visited Shottenkirk Honda on Tuesday evening and had a very disappointing experience. When the total pricing was finally presented, there was nearly $4,000 in added fees on top of the sticker price. One of those was a $1,000 charge for a 6,000 mile warranty on a used vehicle. We explained that we drive to Birmingham and back daily, so that warranty would be exhausted in roughly six weeks and didn’t provide meaningful value. After that, we were asked whether we were paying cash or financing. When we said cash, the salesperson went to speak with the manager. He came back and stated there was no flexibility on the warranty or pricing. That alone was frustrating, but what followed was worse. After asking a simple question about one of the fees, we were essentially ushered out and told the car couldn’t be sold that evening. This was especially surprising considering we were ready to purchase the vehicle until we realized how much in added fees there were. It’s unfortunate, because I really liked the car and came in fully prepared to buy it. Instead, the experience felt dismissive and unaccommodating. I’ve never been in a situation where a dealership declined to sell a vehicle to a cash buyer over basic questions. The message we walked away with was clear: they weren’t interested in working with us or earning our business. It also felt like they were less likely to work with us since we were paying cash because they make more money we you finance a vehicle with them.

These people are scum that will rip you off. Had my 2011 Honda serviced by Michael Draper 06/15/23 and honestly should have taken it elsewhere when I got this ridiculous quote but just assumed I needed all of this done and trusted that they would actually do the work after thinking it over. I am extremely disappointed because less than 20k miles later and I am needing the exact same brake and power steering work done and it is going to cost me about the same I paid the first time around. My current mechanic that I actually trust to be honest with me showed me all of this and is convinced these people are committing mass fraud down in Alabama because they very clearly never replaced the parts they billed me for and he pointed out that if they actually took these parts out to do the replacement like he did then they would have caught a few other things so there is no way they did. Definitely take your business elsewhere and buyer beware. It’s also crazy that they have the gall to charge these prices and I recall them making it extremely difficult to get the veteran discount and slightly cheaper but still ridiculous quote they promised me just because the employee at the front desk and my technician didn’t really feel like going there or being there or picking up my phone calls for several days. It was quite frustrating and I had to get unnecessary rides to and from this place. Honestly just the worst overall experience I’ve ever had with a mechanic you all should be ashamed.

My wife and I went to the dealership about 2 weeks ago to look at a 2023 blue Tucson for 20k, we were trading in her 2018 Elantra. It wasn’t an excellent condition but it was in very good condition just like the Tucson they were selling. The Tucson had dings and chips in the paint as well as scratches. We were going to look past all that and deal with it later. We were pre- approved through our Navy Federal bank but they kept insisting us to finance through them because they were losing money on the car with how low they were selling for. After everything was done they offered us 5K for her car and said the total would be 28k out the door. They tack on a membership type thing on there for around $800-$900 and when we told them we weren’t interested in it they said it was mandatory. Well we went to a different dealership and walked out with a 2025 Tucson (same color and less miles) for 22k with trade in and offered 7.5K for the Elantra. The supervisor lead person there is a joke. Needless to say I’d recommend not going here and to look else where. I was okay until I went to leave and I got told “It was nice meeting you but hope to never see you again”. Real great customer service.

Found a vehicle online for a “Shottenkirk discount” price of $32k. I spoke with someone via text and confirmed the time I would arrive that evening. Upon arrival, no one had communicated my appointment time. No biggie but actually doesn’t look good. I drove the vehicle, my trade was looked over. I was given a fair price for my trade, although I had to ask for more. That’s kinda normal as it is sales. I was happy with the numbers and I stated that I had my own financing. I was then informed that if I did not finance with them, the price of the vehicle would be $35k FIRM AND a $900 warrant that is NOT optional. Automatically that’s around $4000. I asked, “You’d lose a sale over someone having their own financing?” I was told, “Yes because it will sell either way.” Bribing customers into financing with the dealer to save money is unfair and deceptive practice. I drove up the street and found a similar vehicle with less miles and $4000 less with no forced warranty and no markup for choosing my own financing. I see 5 days later, the vehicle I looked at is still there and the false “shottenkirk discount” is $1000 less.
