Huge THANK YOU TO JOHN SCREWS. He needs a raise!!! He was very professional. Being a woman sometimes gets you dismissed in an auto parts store. John made me feel completely welcome and did not judge me because I am a woman (with a lot of gray hair 😜. Checked my codes, got my part, and even showed me where the part goes. And reminded me to unhook my battery so the code would clear out. This is what I posted to Facebook to give some background: FACEBOOK POST: Proud of myself. My truck was acting a little funny. Like it did not want to pull correctly. I knew I have had a light on for a long time that I had asked about at a local shop (they are great by the way). They told me it would cost about $160-$200 to replace the sensor but it was not urgent. I kept putting it off because that is how I roll 😜. Well, when I had my issue yesterday, I wanted to make sure it was not something with the transmission. The transmission place was already closed so I drove on over to AutoZone in Alabama City. I had the most helpful clerk, John Screws. He hooked up the OBD machine. He said it was my EGR valve, which is what the mechanic had told me before. I said how much is it? Tax and all $48.39. He walked back out to my car and showed me where it goes. I bought the part but waited till this morning to put it on. I woke up while it was cool and replaced it myself. Even unhooked my battery like he told me to clear the code! NOTE: when the car acted weird, I thought (even though I knew my car has a closed transmission)that I would get a quart of transmission fluid and add some just in case. I was outside 15 minutes in the hot sun looking for the place to put the transmission fluid in. I know they saw me and working a parts couter you would think the guy from O’Reillys on George Wallace Drive would have said ma’am you have to get under the car to fill that with a special tool. Anyway I fixed it in less time than I was out in front of O’Reillys looking for where to put transmission fluid. Which was not even the problem. Again THANK YOU so much John Screw and AutoZone!
