- MMMVWSep 20, 20251.0I was just in Advance Auto Parts on the circle near the Italian icecream store and this was my experience. Let me preface by saying that I am a woman of color. I walked in, the guy at the counter saw me, didn’t acknowledge me and there was not a single soul in the store. Now within 5-10 mins of me being there a Caucasian man walked in and was greeted with a warm and friendly “How can I help you?” Shortly after another Caucasian man who appeared to also work there enters, and he starts loudly boasting about an individual he watched online had been arrested by ICE. He was laughing with excitement because he just seemed to be tickled by the whole situation. I promptly returned everything that I had in my cart and walked out of the store. These are the times we are living in when people being arrested by ICE HAVE BECOME THE HIGHLIGHT OF SOMEONE’S DAY.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
