- TJTim J.Jul 29, 20223.0It's like going to any other auto parts store. Some items/parts are priced decently and other items/parts are priced too high. I only go if they have what I need in stock at a decent price. If I don't like their price or they don't have what I need in stock, I look elsewhere. Usually order what I need online and wait for it to ship to my house. For example I was working on a 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee and needed two lower front ball joints. Advanced Auto had them in stock but wanted too much for them so I ordered online from another business and saved around $30. Yes I had to wait a few days for the parts to arrive to do the job, but it was worth the wait since I saved money!

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle.
