Saturday 03/21/2026 my daughter and I were approximately 545 miles from home, in AL about 20 miles from the Mississippi border at the junction of 233 and 1-22. The 2024 Nissan Rogue that I had rented from the Georgetown SC Enterprise on 03/19/2026 broke down on us. First the AWD malfunctioned and it said to check the owners manual, then came the other lights on the dash.
The RPMs went up, and the vehicle wouldn't drive over 40mph. I called Enterprise customer service and was able to pull it off the interstate to a "safe" location. Enterprise customer service told me they were sending a tow truck and ride share to us. The tow truck showed up after about an hour and a half. Ride share never showed up. We wound up having to ride back to Birmingham with the tow truck driver. I called Enterprise several times to see where the ride share was and every time they said that they were ordering one only for the order to never go through.
So fast forward we get to the Birmingham Enterprise. We walk in to the Enterprise in Birmingham and from start to finish it was a nightmare. I was given the third degree on what happened to the car, asking me what did I personally do to the vehicle to make it break down. Actually tried to explain to me what a Camry was like I'm some idiot that didn't grow up in a shop around vehicles (I didn't wind up with the Camry, I wound up with the 2025 Toyota Corolla). Not to mention being there for an hour and a half. When we walked in the lobby was empty. Within a few minutes they got a customer in there and they were given priority. Honestly as someone who was already under contract it should have been an easy in and out. But we kept getting pushed back. We hadn't eaten, we hadn't drank anything, my daughter and I were on our way to Memphis TN to Le Bonhuers for her specialty appointments at the Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic of Excellency. So not only did the vehicle break down with me in it, but also with my daughter who is disabled and if she had had a medical emergency there was no place close to us to send emergency personnel quickly. Quite literally leaving us stranded. The Birmingham airport enterprise kept telling other customers that they were the priority and that we could just sit there. We finally got a car only for it to be a different class (didn't bother me a vehicle is a vehicle) and no change in the rates (this did bother me). Not to mention that I used my points for two days. The whole experience was exhausting. We spent the hour and a half at the Birmingham airport enterprise virtually being ignored. We finally left and got to Memphis TN after 9 that night. But the employee there was rude, abrasive, and told me "don't do anything to that car" like sir....excuse me? We didn't do the obligatory walk around the car for inspection, there was no new paper work, and all around it just was not a pleasant experience for us. We were already in a high stress situation and everything culminating up to this point just made it so much worse.
I'll always do business with enterprise in Georgetown. But if I ever run into a situation out that way again, I'll gladly switch to Avis, Budget, or Hertz first before I ever get another vehicle from the Birmingham Airport Enterprise.
There needs to be an option for 0 stars. Please do not rent from here if you can avoid it . I booked at another location but 10 minutes before pickup, I was forced to go here. They told me they would honor the price as my original booking ( which was booked in JANUARY). Only for the price to double, deposit $100 more & I was promised twice someone from “upper management “ would contact me , (could not reach the direct line for this location either ). It’s been a week & of course I haven’t heard from anyone. I haven’t rented a car in over 15 years , & when I returned my rental, she offered me money off a future rental, why would I ever rent from here again? COMICAL! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND !!

Not even 1star ! Rented a car in OHIO the entire drive down to AL the care SerAWD light came on so the car sounded like we were hitting speed bumps and it was jerking so we notified Avis letting them know the issue and how uncomfortable/scary this is and they didn’t help at all we just waisted time on the line with them bc they did nothing but transfer us to another rep who again couldn’t help! This is unacceptable! They should have a to accommodate their customers and have better customer service. So we drive a hr to another Avis to them not having cars to driving to yet another Avis even Airports still no cars !! We will be filing with BBB, payed all this money for these ratchet cars with their horrible customer service.
Horrible company!

If you have any issues with your rental, like a flat tire, good luck. Customer service is actively unhelpful and it’s impossible to talk to someone at the branch without going there. Ended up having to purchase a tire myself or just be stranded. Customer service told me to call 911 if I didn’t want to drive 3 hours home on a donut. Took way too much of my time and about a month following up and calling customer service to get refunded for the tire.

My booking was for a 7 seater Chrysler Pacifica Mini Van, representative provided a Kia 8 seater mini van, that was more spacious and comfortable. It was a bit of a wait time after our arrival, but overall couldn't have been more pleased. Return was also seamless..Keep up the great customer service!!
