- DBDeAngelo BurrellJul 10, 20251.0Advanced Auto has always been my go to store for my automotive needs until now. I purchased an Alternator and had a mechanic install it. It turned out that the Alternator they sold me was bad. Therefore I returned the Alternator and requested a replacement. The salesman got upset and said that there wasn’t a problem with the Alternator. I ask if he would check it out to determine if it was or not. He refused and stated that he would replace this one and the he was going to void my warranty and that I couldn’t return another one. I stated I am only going on the mechanic words. I left with the Alternator. I took the Alternator back to the mechanic shop and they called me a few hours later stating that this Alternator is bad as well. They said that they would furnish an Alternator from another store and I could take this one back. They also that they would call the store because they deal with them quite often. They did and informed me to stop bye and pick up the Alternator and return it. Once I received the Alternator and returned to the store the store manager refused to honor his words that he would refund me. He stated that there wasn’t anything wrong with his Alternator and that it must be something wrong with the car. I told him that the shop called and spoke with him about it and he stated it wasn’t him but one of his salesman and that he wasn’t going to do anything about it. He wouldn’t take the Alternator back nor would he replace or refund me. Therefore I departed the store and informed the mechanic shop on what happened. He stated that he couldn’t believe that happened. Therefore I am leaving this review for future reference in hope it helps someone else.

Brakes work by using friction to turn kinetic energy into heat. There are two designs: drum brakes (older), and disc brakes (newer). Both use hydraulic pressure to move a piston outward. In disc brakes, the piston is located inside a caliper that houses brake pads and fits over the rotor. The friction lining on the pads makes contact with the rotor to slow the vehicle. In drum brakes, the piston moves two curved shoes lined with friction material against the inside of the brake drum.
