  Cummins in Anchorage has always been great to deal with but if you try calling for parts now, you get rerouted to some nice ladies in Pakistan. It's become a real joke with everyone I know who's tried ordering parts.

  Good Service is challenging to get any where. But over the years, Cummins Sales and Service has always done a good job. The phone tech support has been Steller as well and the techs have always been very professional. Thanks for being a great Alaskan Business.

  I am on a 3 month travel plan with my class B Winnebago Travato. Yes, I had to sign up front that I would pay for trouble shoot $299. Then I was told they would have to take generator off - $580, to check it. I refused service - reasons extensive. It is within three year warranty. Then Justin Tenderella asked to talk with me. He's the service manager. He talked to the tech who said the generator ran for about 10 minutes while in service bay. So, I turned on my engine, started generator and got loads of tips from Justin about how to make my generator 'happy'. It needs a heavier load to keep it cleaned out. Just running it every month for an hour or two is not all it needs. It needs a LOAD. I stood in my unit in the parking lot while Justin took time to give me lots of technical tips for maintaining gemerator function and possible reasons for it pooping out on me last week. #1 - the engine gas tank should not be below half tank - which it might have been last week when I could not keep it running. #2 - put a bigger load on the generator than just the AC for at least an hour: microwave is a heavy load, but too brief. Use my little space heater - hot day? - plug it into the outside outlet while AC running inside. So, here I sit in Cummins waiting area, drinking their delicious coffee, while my RV generator runs in their parking lot to clean out the workings inside that generator. And assure there is nothing really wrong at this point in my travels. So, my advice - just talk to people in service department. Get all information. Have them keep you informed every step of the way what the assessment is. Tell them your ability or inability to handle a huge repair bill before service is even started. Be courteous. Listen and hopefully your service visit will go as well as mine did and you will learn some new information that no one has made clear to you before.
