Fountain Tire in St. Paul, a leading tire dealer offering auto repair services and Goodyear, Dunlop and Kelly tires for cars, trucks, Atv's, trailers, farm equipment and fleets.
We'd used Fountain Tire when living in Calgary and in bit of a life storm we met Fountain Tire Staff here at St. Paul and they saved the day for us. I felt literally rescued by Harlem and Mike and while waiting for the repairs to be done I saw a guy bring cookies in for staff. Staff a gal then shared cookies with clients too, then a staffer updating another client that he provided a new container for items loose in his vehicle so he'd know what it was. I know I didn't get the bare minimum. It was lots of little extras besides the things required to be done and with kindness and decency
I'm pretty sure that's just who they are and that's where I want my money's to go when I need something done. I was referred there from the other establishment I broke down at. Dodged a bullet maybe? Thank you FT Staff for fitting us in and for staff who didn't make us feel like we were a problem or inconvenience.

Helpful and knowledgeable. There's a mechanic here
Tires wear out over time, and how long they last depends on things like road conditions, driving habits, inflation, and temperature. The best way to know when to replace them is to check them regularly.
Common ways to measure tread include the following.
- Tread wear bars: When these are flush with the tread, it’s time to replace.
- Coin test: If too much of the coin shows, your tread is low.
- Tread depth gauge: The most accurate way to measure.
If your tread is low or you see cracks, bulges, or notice vibration, come see us.
What are some signs my vehicle is out of alignment?
It doesn’t take much to throw your alignment off—potholes, curbs, or just everyday driving. Poor alignment can lead to faster tire wear and poor handling.
Common signs include:
- Vehicle pulls to one side
- Crooked steering wheel
- Uneven tire wear
- Loose or unstable steering
- Vibration in the steering wheel
If something feels off, we’re happy to take a look.
What’s included in the seasonal car care package?
Our seasonal car care package gets your vehicle ready for the weather ahead. It includes:
- Fresh engine oil and filter
- Chassis lubrication (as needed)
- Charging and starting system check
- Brake inspection
- Fluid top-ups
- Belt and hose inspection
- Battery test
- Tire and pressure check
- Heating/cooling system check
- Lights, wipers, and overall safety check
It’s a great way to make sure your vehicle is ready for the season.
What do the numbers on my tires mean?
The numbers on your tire’s sidewall tell you the size, load rating, and speed rating.
Example: 225/55R17 97H
- 225 – Tire width (mm)
- 55 – Height as a % of width
- R – Radial construction
- 17 – Wheel diameter (inches)
- 97 – Load rating (how much weight it can carry)
- H – Speed rating (maximum safe speed)
These numbers help us match you with the right tire.
When should I put my winter tires on?
A good rule of thumb: when you can see your breath — about 7°C and below. At that temperature, all-season tires start to harden, while winter tires stay flexible and grippy. Booking early helps you beat the rush.
