  This was my experience… Booked a car (on Expedia) with National from Grande Prairie Alberta airport to Calgary International airport. 1 day, unlimited kms for $93. Great deal right!? I got a confirmation email and everything. The day of the booking. I called from High Prairie to National Car Rental in Grande Prairie to confirm my booking. The agent in Grande Prairie confirmed the booking. Great! She then went on to inform me that because this was one way from Grande Prairie airport to Calgary International Airport there would be additional charges. National Car Rental in Grande Prairie was going to charge an additional $1 per kilometre to the Calgary airport. It’s a 714km drive so this would amount to an ADDITIONAL $714 CHARGE on top of the $93 original booking on line through Expedia. The agent said the blame for this was on Expedia. Somebody needs to fix this! Needless to say, I cancelled the booking as a $807 car rental, plus whatever the additional would have been for insurance would have been absurd! Could someone from National Car Rental not have called me when they received the booking to inform me of this rather than me finding out only when I called them to confirm the booking just to be safe? Unacceptable! I should have read their reviews and seen their 1.6* rating before booking!

  Robbed for nearly 5000$ for a one week rental. This may have national logo and site but he has his own little contract and will charge you extra for EVERYTHING. No idea how national is allowing this to happen. Needs to loose his title. @nationalcarrental you must investigate this franchise.

  clowns. turn up with proper booking made in advance and they have no car and don’t give a dam.... why would national keep their name and reputation on this location ?!?!

  Terrible experience. I booked through the national app as I am a regular member and to my surprise when I got there the price was completely different. I reserved the car for 30 hours and My rate went from 40$/day to 89$ PLUS Km. So through my app I was only spending 85$ For the trip. By the time I had returned the car my bill was $300 - for 30 hours. Completely unacceptable. They were lucky they were the only ones available for my 1am landing. Extremely frustrated and disappointed. Don’t recommend to anyone. They are a franchise who set their own ridiculous prices.
