The person at the counter called the manager, took out his phone, and started typing something on it while the manager was reading. I didn’t understand why they weren’t speaking openly, but instead wrote to each other secretly on their phones. I saw the message get sent, and then the manager’s phone received a notification — confirming that they were texting each other behind my back. In the end, the employee just gave me an “OK” sign. When I went outside to pick up the car, they gave me one that had a cracked windshield. They told me that if it got more damaged, I would have to pay for it. It seemed like they intentionally gave me a damaged car so that something could happen and I’d end up paying. The car was in terrible condition — mechanically weak, barely accelerating, with warning lights on saying it needed service. So, I returned it the same day and rented a car from another company instead. They charged $57 per day for that broken car, while in Toronto I’ve rented a brand new 2023 Elantra for $50 a day. I was not happy at all with their service, the secret communication they had in front of me, and the overall negative attitude of the staff.
