    Do not rent from SIXT. My experience was awful from start to finish. At pickup, they refused to accept my Wealthsimple Visa credit card, claiming it was not a “proper credit card,” despite the fact that I have used the same card previously to rent other vehicles. Then, after I returned the vehicle, SIXT claimed I had damaged two passenger-side rims. We did not damage the vehicle, and I have video evidence from the time of pickup showing pre-existing rim/rim-area damage. I am currently disputing the claim. After looking into this further, I found that questionable post-rental damage claims appear to be a common complaint about SIXT (previous class action lawsuit, hundreds of complaints on BBB, etc). Based on my experience, I would recommend avoiding SIXT.

    I had a very disappointing experience with Sixt. I rented a car and returned it without any issues. At the time of return, no one mentioned any damage or concerns. However, after almost a month, they suddenly claimed there was damage to the vehicle. This was shocking and unfair. Thankfully, I had video proof from the time of return clearly showing there was no such damage. Despite providing this evidence, the situation was handled very poorly. This kind of practice feels unprofessional and unreliable. I would strongly advise others to be extremely cautious when renting from this company—make sure you record everything at pickup and drop-off. Overall, a very bad experience.

    BEWARE!! I am very disappointed with our experience renting from this location. To begin with, the vehicle we reserved was not even the vehicle we received upon pickup. When we inspected the car before leaving, we noticed multiple pre-existing marks and damages, including a very small scratch/scuff on the rear bumper that is now being blamed on us. We specifically pointed these issues out to the employee during the walkaround inspection and were told not to worry about previous damage, even if it had not been documented. Which was very shocking to us. Now, two weeks later, we are being contacted and accused of causing damage that was already present before our rental period. Thankfully, we have photos showing the same mark existed beforehand. The scratches being claimed are extremely minor and difficult to even identify clearly in the photos provided. The situation has been frustrating and stressful, especially considering we tried to be responsible and transparent from the start. I highly recommend that anyone renting from this location thoroughly document the entire vehicle with photos and videos before leaving and again at drop-off.

    Do not get a rental from here. Plain and simple. My wife and I booked a rental car with this company months ahead the May long weekend. The day of our pickup comes and we drive 30 minutes from our house to the downtown Calgary location. We park in their parking lot and make our way to the pickup counter only for the representative to tell us they don’t have any cars available because the last one they had “damage” and they had no cars available. Mind you we were on time for our appointment and at no time during our drive there was I contacted telling me that there were no cars available. Their excuse was that it was just returned a few minutes ago. Yet, I see the employee typing up the email that there are no cars available to me right in front of me. So the company has no spare cars in case things like this happen? Ridiculous. The representative at the front desk couldn't even give me the refund in person. I had to call their assistance phone number to request it, when the employee could have done this exact thing himself? This company is terrible. Terrible customer service and terrible customer experience. I would not recommend this company to anyone I know and I hope as you read this, it strays you away from booking with them too. I don’t want to hear any apologies from the downtown location saying “we’re sorry you experienced this,” because frankly they’re not sorry and did not provide any customer service to me at all during this process.

    Absolutely terrible experience with SIXT. We drove 2 hours to pick up a rental that had been booked far in advance, only to arrive and be told our reservation was basically canceled because they had no available cars. The only car they supposedly had for us had just been returned damaged 10 minutes earlier. No phone call. No email. No warning whatsoever before we wasted hours driving there. The excuse didn’t make much sense either? Even if we were getting that car (given it wasn’t damaged), there’s no way it could have been properly inspected or cleaned within 10 minutes. Completely unprofessional and disorganized. To make matters worse, the directions for where to actually go were already confusing and poorly explained, and the barcode they gave us to validate parking didn’t even work. When we asked for a full refund, the staff seemingly couldn’t process it right there while we were standing at the desk and instead gave us a customer service number to call ourselves. After wasting our time because of THEIR mistake, they couldn’t even handle the refund properly in person. This was one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Extremely inconvenient, poorly managed, and disrespectful of customers’ time. My honest advice? Save yourself the time and stress and do not book here.
