  I found a needle in the backseat of my rental car, and when I raised this issue, I was treated like I was lying as I never took a picture. Further, the next time I tried to rent a car, they denied me a rental! They said I made them look bad and it reflected poorly on the company. I’ve never seen such poor management, so will not be renting with them again.

  I’ve rented cars from Sixt many times and have used their services in different countries around the world. However, I would especially like to recognize one employee in Calgary Raahat 🥇 Every time I rent a car here, he provides outstanding service. He is always professional, friendly, and genuinely pleasant to deal with. Thanks to his help, I always end up choosing a great car, and the whole process is quick, smooth, and stress-free. He also takes the time to give helpful advice about the car and Sixt services, which I really appreciate. I’m truly grateful for his support and professionalism. Renting a car with Raahat’s assistance is always a great experience, and it makes the whole process easy and enjoyable. Thank you!

  We had an awful experience with SIXT Downtown Calgary. We made a confirmed booking for 5:00pm collection on Friday, and all confirmation emails clearly stated the booking details. There was no mention whatsoever that we needed to arrive earlier than our scheduled time. In fact, the confirmation explicitly stated that the vehicle would be held for 60 minutes after the collection time. We arrived at 5:01pm, only to find the entire office completely closed, not in the process of closing, but fully shut down for the night. We then noticed the posted closing time was 5:00pm, but this was never made clear during booking and no warning was given that arriving at the booked time would mean the office was closed. There was no local contact number available, only a US-based automated customer service line, which was completely unhelpful. As a result, we were stranded without a vehicle and had to book a hotel for the night at our own expense. We returned promptly at 9:00am when they opened on Saturday, second in line to be served. When we explained the situation, the staff member immediately became defensive and rude. He stated that we “should have arrived 30 minutes before our booking time” because it is “obvious you arrive before your booking.” This was never stated anywhere in the booking confirmation. He then told us there was no car available for us that day, and shockingly claimed there had been no car available the previous day either, despite our confirmed reservation. We were told we would have to wait until all other customers were served before he would even check whether a vehicle might be available. When we asked how long this would take, he refused to give any indication. Throughout the interaction, he became increasingly confrontational, accused us of being rude (we remained calm and did not raise our voices), and ultimately stated that because of “how the conversation went,” he would not be giving us a car at all. We were in Calgary to visit a very sick relative in hospital, and needed the car to make sure we could visit him. We tried to explain this, but there was absolutely no compassion or willingness to assist. The level of customer service was unacceptable. In the end, we left and went to Enterprise Rent-A-Car Calgary Downtown instead. They were incredibly helpful, professional, and understanding of our situation. The contrast in customer service was striking. Enterprise arranged a vehicle quickly and treated us with respect and empathy. This experience with SIXT showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic customer care. We dealt with the manager Raahat. I strongly advise others to never use this Sixt branch.
