Need IDLs. Meghan with customer service was probably the best service rep I have had the pleasure of dealing with. A raise is in order.

We decided to take the worry out of planning a trip and went to AMA travel service. It took a week to get an appointment, 2 weeks later we bugged them for info, we received flight options that day and then heard nothing for another 3 days and the clock ticking. We then went to another travel agent, got an itinerary the next day and a revised itinerary with our input the day after. We cancelled our involvement with AMA, who were going to charge us $150 EACH, The Travel Lady is charging us nothing. Flights are equal in price, we see no value in the additional charge from AMA, certainly not service. We are now considered a last minute booking after losing 4 weeks.

Two days ago, my fiancée and I had one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever encountered. We visited the branch to insure a newly purchased personal vehicle. My fiancée has been an AMA member since 2018 and already insures her own vehicle with AMA, so this should have been a relatively straightforward process of adding another vehicle and listing us both as insured drivers. I fully understand that updating insurance policies can take time—but I have never experienced a process like this taking over four hours, especially due to unnecessary suspicion and poor communication. We were assisted by Maria, whose behaviour throughout the appointment was consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She frequently stood up and walked away from the desk without explanation to speak with her manager, spoke over my fiancée in a condescending manner, and made us feel unwelcome and mistrusted from the outset. An honest misunderstanding occurred when my fiancée attempted to explain my line of work. Based on her wording, Maria immediately accused us of attempting to insure the vehicle for commercial use, despite repeated clarification that the vehicle is strictly for personal use. I drive it to a work site and then switch into a separate company vehicle. To avoid confusion, my fiancée called me so I could explain this directly. Despite this, Maria continued to treat us as though we were being dishonest and maintained this belief for the remainder of the appointment. She fixated on a single insurance claim from 2013—spending approximately 45 minutes calling others to investigate it—despite the fact that claims older than six years do not affect premiums. This felt less like due diligence and more like an attempt to catch us in something, particularly since this was the first time in years such a claim has ever been questioned. Maria also continued to document her belief that the vehicle was commercial, repeatedly making notes about it in front of us, and ultimately requiring us to sign documentation stating that the vehicle would not be used for commercial purposes—despite our consistent explanations. When my fiancée asked for a copy of the notes being written about us, she was told they were for Maria’s “personal use” and could not be shared, which felt highly inappropriate and unprofessional. To make matters worse, after more than four hours, Maria failed to add me to the policy—the primary reason for our visit. My fiancée had to return a second time to correct this error. When she did, Maria offered no apology, no acknowledgment of the mistake, and her facial expression conveyed clear disgust rather than professionalism. She actually blamed this error on my fiancée. Stating she wasn't clear about what we wanted. Considering both my fiancée and I spoke with Maria regarding this policy, I'm not sure where any of the confusion came from. I'm not sure how we could have been clearer. Overall, this entire experience has made us seriously consider cancelling all of our insurance with AMA. I have insured many vehicles over the years and have never encountered such extreme distrust, inefficiency, or poor customer service. Based on this interaction alone, we will be taking our business elsewhere and will be advising family and friends to avoid this location.
